Have a Pipe Enlarger handy
I got this for a 2011 Mercury Mariner (2.5L) that already had a cut in muffler assembly on it from about 4 years a ago (an off brand that didn't hold up too well). I am hoping to get a longer life out of this Walker replacement. It came in a large box. Inside, both of the ends were very well wrapped in bubble to prevent any damage. Replaced it in the driveway with front end on ramps -- slower and dirtier but it can be done. Removed the current assembly off of the car by cutting the existing clamp at the front end and just before the flange connection on the back end. When the back cut is made, you can unhook and remove the whole tailpipe section from the rear of the car -- with the flanges still bolted together. After that tailpipe assembly is removed (still having the spring bolt flanges connected because of your cut) you can then work on separating the flange connection while everything is off of the car on the ground and out in the open (if you're trying to reuse the tailpipe section like I was). Much easier to deal with the bolted flanges out in the open and you'll have to clean the old gasket out of the tailpipe anyway. When I began to install the new Walker assembly, I found that the stub of existing pipe coming off of the catalytic converter was heavily rusted and slightly out of round from the earlier cut in installation and clamp. I had to use the pipe enlarger (borrowed from a major Auto parts store) to enlarge the female end of the Walker replacement in order for it to slide over the catalytic converter pipe (Walker makes this female end sized for the "perfect condition" catalytic converter pipe -- which most cars no longer have. By enlarging it slightly, it was still a nice snug fit over the converter pipe. Clamped the front and then, having already put the tailpipe section back on the hangers and in position, I bolted the flange connectors back together with a new gasket between them. Naturally, the sound was much quieter than the rusted out assembly that I replaced. Time will tell but this new Walker replacement does look like it is a much better made product than the off brand it replaced. Best to have the pipe enlarger standing by.

2010 Ford Escape Muffler & Resonator
The item was perfect fit as described. I welded the existing exhaust, but clamping would have worked. super quiet as compared to what it was. I am content and like that it is stainless steel.

Perfect fit-Quality
This was a perfect fit for a 2010 Ford Escape XLT 4wd. Installation was easy. Just cut the exhaust with a sawzall about 2” behind the catalytic converter. Loosen 2 bolts and take off rubber hangers. Clean off old exhaust gasket and clean flange. Deburr the pipe that was cut. Slide on new exhaust, add new gasket, slide hanger back on, add new exhaust clamp on front, and tighten bolts and clamp and it’s done. Installation took 45 minutes. Definitely saves lots of money with this DIY project. Muffler does get banged up during shipping, but that affects nothing. I’ve seen exhaust from local supply house look the same.

Great product, slightly damaged in shipment
Overall, very pleased with the product. I was able to replace the components with minimal issue on my 2012 Ford Escape. Just keep in mind that you may need to have a tube expander. I couldn't get the inlet to slip over the outlet of my catalytic converter, so I had to buy (or rent, as i found out I should have done) a tube expander. I believe that the tube was out of round due to the shipping. No big deal though, once that issue was addressed the component fit perfectly.

Rattling like a can of marbles
I grew up trusting Walker exhaust system components. Not any more. This muffler assembly is supposed to perfectly fit over the outlet tube of the rear catalytic converter on my 2009 Mazda Tribute (sister to the Ford Escape). It didn't - and I am the vehicle's original owner, so I know the catalytic converter is a factory part. I had to measure for an adapter, cut the inlet tube to make room for installation of the adapter, and then go to a local auto parts store to purchase the adapter. Once installation was complete, I was satisfied with the results...for about a month. Then baffles inside the muffler began to come loose and rattle. Now my vehicle sounds like a can of marbles anytime the engine rpm is between about 1400 and 2800 rpm. If you've ever had a loose heat shield on an exhaust system, this rattling sound is similar, but louder. In order to get a replacement for this annoying piece of junk, I would have to remove it from the vehicle and ship it back - during which time I would be without use of my vehicle because it could not be legally driven. I suppose I'll put up with it for now, but EVERY time I drive this vehicle I will be cussing Walker and reminding myself not to purchase large automotive parts (that are difficult to return if defective) from Amazon. This is one of several recent purchases from Amazon that turned out to be defective or damaged, so I will be reluctant to purchase anything from Amazon in the future.

Fits 2010 Ford Escape Perfectly!
This was a perfect fit for replacing the stock muffler and resonator on my 2010 Ford Escape 4 cly. It is a relatively easy install if you're moderately car savvy. The hardest part is measuring up the length and trimming just the right amount from the feeder pipe coming from the catalytic converter (if you plan on keeping the current one), or else the brackets for the rubber suspension dampeners will not line up properly and the bend pipe of the rear resonator will not properly clear the rear axle and will contact the undercarriage and sound like someone is jack-hammering under your car. It's been almost a year and mostly still clean with minimal rust spots. This does not come with gaskets so I recommend replacing those as well.....your old ones will likely be degraded and welded to the old sections of pipe from years of heat and impossible to remove without destroying them. Highly recommend this replacement part to save you hundreds in labor at the shop.

Perfect fit.
Bought this to replace a worn-out muffler on a 2011 Ford escape with the four cylinder engine. Fit perfectly and all the hangers lined up. It's nice and quiet now.

Pipe went over the 2" O.D. exhaust pipe on my 2009- 2.5L FWD escape with plenty of clearance (~1/8")

Great Replacement
I purchased this unit and took it to my local muffler shop and he had little difficulty installing it. One issue was that one pipe end was a little dented (even though it was wrapped and inside a carton!) so he had to do his thing to make it perfectly round to fit with the other muffler pipe. The vehicle sounds like new!

Fit perfect
A perfect fit on my 2009 Ford Escape XLT.. not sure why in description it says it doesn’t , only thing you need is a pipe expander to connect to the catalytic converter pipe and maybe a donut .. garage swapped it out for $60 bucks under 30 minutes.. quite happy with the purchase and it’s quiet again :)
