Great book!
I bought this book for a 10-year-old's birthday. It was a perfect choice. Not only does it teach about drawing comic book characters, there's also great information about writing and illustrating stories. It appears to have everything one needs to know to produce a comic book, start to finish. Just add ideas.

More than expected
This book is just awesome! Makes me want to start drawing again! My aspiring artistic 11-yo who's been drawing comics for years has gained a LOT from this book in a few short weeks. It's great all the different things this book teaches you how to do. It's laid out very well, easy to read and understand. If you or your kid wants to pic up drawing or get some tips on how to draw certain things, this book can be a huge help. I'm very impressed!

Great book for young artists
I bought this book for my daugher who loves to draw and also loves to read graphic novels. I was hoping for more drawing space in the book but its really a book about how to draw comics, not a "here's an example, now you draw it". The book was snubbed at first because how could I try and trick my beloved child into reading anything over the summer but after a couple of weeks of sitting there, taunting her, she's finally reading the book. And she's finding ways to draw her own comics. I have seen progression in her drawing and ideas about what to draw.I would recommend this book for kids who like to draw and for parents who would like their kids to read more. As a parent, you may just have to lay in wait until your child things the threat of reading as passed and its ok to show interest in the book. :)

Comic Strips aren't just for kiddies!
I'm an middle-aged woman, working on creating a HILARIOUS** gag a day comic strip. Even though this book is geared towards kids, I learned so much from it. It will honestly help make my hobby strip a lot better. When I can find time (not often), I randomly open a page and start reading. It's really helped me develop my strip, and it's helping me to figure out how to go further with ideas I never thought about. I have a main character, but who is her nemesis? Why is she unique? Why are her comrades unique? How would they respond in this situation? All this and more are some of the questions I've learned to ask from reading this book.**Hilarious is a matter of opinion. Mostly mine.

a great introduction to comic strip art
This product is a great introduction for kids interested in comic books. My 10-yr-old is already a comic book connoisseur, and when she tried to make her own comics, something just wasn't quite right. This product was a boon to her drawing techniques, and a huge boost to her creativity. This product is great for any age, but I have seen first-hand how just a little instruction and encouragement along with a nudge in the right direction, can cause the imagination of a child to literally bloom.I highly recommend this product to anyone with a budding artist to nurture, or anyone with an interest in learning how to design your own comic book.

Not what I expected
It is probably my fault for not reading the description better. I assumed this would have space for my child to make up their own comic strips. Instead it is simply a book teaching you how to draw a comic. He hasn't been that interested in it!

Homeschool writing win!
This is amazing! It not only teaches about writing a comic, but many principals overlap for any fictional prose. It is fun and relatable. It gives great insight to starting to draw as well.

Ok, so when we bought this we were thinking ...
Ok, so when we bought this we were thinking that it was a book that would help our 11 yr old son learn how to do comic strips..meaning draw them. It helps him draw them somewhat but mostly it is a book that teaches them how to go beyond the drawing and actually PUBLISH the comic strips that he would draw. I would give it 5 stars if my intent in purchasing the book was to publish rather than to draw.
