Not a bad rod and reel if you wanna get into a casting reel. I recommend respooling it as mine instantly wanted to birdnest from sitting spooled up. Guessing it's sat a while and the string held its memory. I spooled mine with 14lb Berkley fireline and after that it casted beautifully even with some pretty light lures. This setup is cheap enough to get you started and you can then decide if a baitcaster is for you or not. And if you have problems don't give up right away just pay attention and learn from your mistakes.

After watching YouTube reviews on this rig, I was excited to get it. Shipping was quick, and I rigged it up to get it dialed in. You have to properly set up a bait casting reel or else you'll end up with backlash on the spool and have to either untangle a half a spool, or rip off all the line and respool it. Well aware of how to do it, been using bait casters for steelhead and salmon fishing for years without issues.I've been wanting a cheap bass rig to take out on my pontoon boat.After the process of dialing it all in, I'd end up with a three foot long cast, a good cast, a good cast, three foot cast, then back lash like nobodies business. I untangled the first one, figuring it was something I did.Go back out to test it out again and got nothing but crappy casts, even after playing around with the brake. I turned it way down, got it casting right on the edge of back lashing, get a couple of decent casts but tighten up the brake as it's a bit too close to wanting to back spool. Give it a good flick, and it backlashes again pretty good. I try messing with it, needed up having to throw some splices in the line to salvage some of it. Go out and try it again and it wanted to do nothing but backlash, no matter how much thumb I put on the spool.Kinda a shame as it looks like a great setup. I was super excited with the handful of decent casts I was able to get out of it. I didn't open the reel up, as I probably would make it worse off than it was if I tried to work on it. But I've seen and read about how some people have to change some stuff out to get it to function properly.Oh well, I'll save up for a better one.

Ok, don’t get me wrong I like this combo, if you are a beginner it’s not hard to use, easily adjustable, and really if you break it, it was $30.Dislikes: No matter your settings anything over 12lb test will back lash. Compared to my black max by abu Garcia that I only paid $50 for the same exact setup as this one, it’s night and day. The alpha has nothing smooth about it, it makes noise, it’s clunky, the grips for reeling get very slippery very fast. And last but not least, the handle of the rod is too short, and not comfortable to get your hand around the reel.Things I like: it was $30, I use it for Texas rigs and other lighter baits that I can use lighter line for.The hook keeper is off to the side instead of on the front so your line won’t catch it and and cause more backlashes. However, this is a $30 rod and reel combo, so just be careful as to how you set it up.I will say this, with the issues, they seem minor, I use this rod and reel combo everytime I go out fishing, and haven’t had anything break on it or anything, yet.

Una compra con un sabor tanto agridulce, tal ves fue defecto de fabrica al momento de su elaboración o el mal manejo durante el transporte, recién me llego la caña le cambie la línea por la que yo usualmente estoy acostumbrado a utilizar, NO digo que la que trae es de mala calidad, al contrario es marca STREN y para mi es una de las mejores en cuanto relación CALIDAD - PRECIO, segundo, al momento de enrollar para empezar la manivela no tiene por que girar hacia atrás, algún seguro, perno, tornillo suelto sonaba dentro del carrete y por ende afectaba su funcionamiento, la caña se ve y principalmente se siente de buena calidad, me quede con las ganas de probarla en agua dulce, he solicitado amablemente la devolución y muy seguramente volveré a re ordenar este producto esperando y no me envíen una idéntica con estas características, son situaciones que suelen pasar en 1 de 100 productos enviados. No pasa nada chicos(as) la caña por el precio lo vale, solamente que esta ves yo fue ese 1 de 100.

Muy buena opción, económica y buena para empezar

I'm a novice fisherman. Right off the bat I had issues with the line being spooled not so good. A couple birds nests and cutting off some of the line and now it's working great for me.It's lightweight. The rod is extremely flexible more so than my other rods. I've used it half a dozen times and the last few had no issues.I would recommend this to someone new to baitcasters as long as an experienced fisherman could show them the ropes. Mine came with stren line which has been working great.The reel does feel cheap. It's lightweight plastic parts. Right now I'm very happy with it. I don't know how it would hold up against big fish??? And we'll see how it does in the long run

Esta caña la compré como regalo para mi esposo, le encantó y ya la hemos probado en numerosas ocasiones, funciona a la perfección, ya ha sido participe de muchas capturas, si buscan una caña de calidad y a un buen precio, esta es la mejor opción.
