I love this series from ROKR. The quality is great and the instructions are super detailed. For this newest entry to the series, the model connects to the base using USB C instead of the 2 prong connector. While I am happy to see this change, I feel that more needs to be done to secure the model to the base. With the old 2 prong system, you would need to "screw in" the model to the base so that the prongs make a good connection to the connector plate, but with the USB C connector just plugs in without additional support connecting the model to the base. I do not feel that this diminishes the quality of the model in any way, just an observation as someone who has had to move the finished product a few times and then had to reseat the scorpion to the base.

If you already have the Scout and Stag Beetles from ROKR then you'll likely enjoy this Emperor Scorpion too. It's the biggest and most detailed in the series. Some of the parts are small and some of the connections are just so. It's not a beginners model. Though a careful and diligent beginner can complete it. Makes a great desk toy after completion.

This is a great alternative to Legos if someone is looking to shake things up in their own hobbies.This would make a great gift for a teenager; I do agree with it's suggested age of 14+ based on the intricacy of the kit. I'm even getting one for my Uncle.I hope this type of building kit gets expanded with many different options as to what you can build.

This was a very cool model to build and is even better when displayed. The effects work great and never fail to impress. The biggest issue is with younger kids, they either want to take it to play with it or want to keep pressing the button over and over, neither of which is a good idea for a model of this quality.

The media could not be loaded.  My son has been getting in to models lately so I got this for him. The packaging was nice and protective, the parts were all numbered and ordered obviously and the instructions were clear and easy to understand there’s also a number of helpful QR codes throughout the build to help if you get stuck or don’t understand something, scan them and they send you to a video showing that step. The model comes with a nice magnetic screw driver and some plastic tweezers, however we used our own metal tweezers and some snips to remove parts. My kiddo thought it was really cool how it powers up and goes through light sequences. Overall a great success. I’d buy again.

I have built 3D models before and this one is going to a lot of fun to build. I am working on one right now and this one will probably be built in December. I have read the instructions which are good and inspected all the pieces which appear to be well made. Looks like great fun.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a 14 year old + model building kit that includes light up and motion elements. It took me 2.7 hours to assemble, and I needed to provide my own nippers to remove the pieces from the plastic sprues.The instructions and parts were impeccable. Everything fit exactly where it was supposed to, and the only time I had problems was because I hadn't read the directions carefully enough. The directions come in multiple languages, and are VERY detailed (hence the 14+ age on the box, which I agree with).When you are finished you get a mechanical steampunk aesthetic scorpion with two rotating bits (claw and planetary gear system in body) plus several animated lights on a display base with a touch sensitive on/off button.At this price point it feels like a good deal if you like model kits.
