Mostly Words
It is exactly like the pictures, not sure why I thought 1,000 pictures seemed like a lot. It is basically a word dictionary with some pictures on it. Not very many pictures would I think very helpful.

Great Resource and diagrams for any Classroom
Just what I was looking for! This dictionary provides some great pictures and diagrams to help native Spanish speaker's with concepts in a variety of classroom/curriculum that doesn't offer a Spanish edition. We bought this for a student going into Biology because of some of the great diagrams provided. Worth the money and a great resource for native Spanish speakers in your classroom. (Half the book is Spanish to English and the other half is English to Spanish which might help you help you students if you don't speak Spanish yourself).

EXCELLENT DICTIONARY FOR A BEGINNING STUDENT
My niece started attending an immersion school this year where they only speak Spanish. This book is very clear, with great definitions. And it's a much better solution than searching the web for word translations. Rather than just one straight definition, this dictionary offers several definitions, phrases using the word, and context showing where the word might be used. Also, as with all dictionaries, the pages are filled with dozens of words which offer further exploration. An excellent resource. I've actually purchased three copies!

This came well-packed and was delivered very fast.
This is a wonderful book. I bought it for my 8-year-old stepgranddaughter. I asked her if she uses it and she said no, but her mother later told me she has seen her reading it - even though she is not taking Spanish this year! A foreign-language book must be pretty good if a child reads it, even when she does not have to.

Who is curating the words for this?
I have no problem with the layout or general approach of the book. What I can't figure out is why certain terms are included for such a young audience. For example, why on earth would a 4th grader (an age group which this book cites as part of its target audience) need to translate "org-sm" or "inc-st"? I mean, really... why? Why would a 9-10 year old need to translate those words? I get it for a collegiate or adult dictionary – perhaps even something targeted to older teens. But grades 4-8? No.

As soon as I opened the package I knew I was going to love it! My 2nd grader was asked to help translate some of the work to one of her new classmates. When she arrived from school she asked me a couple of words she wasn't sure how to translate, which I did, but I thought that it would also be a good idea to get a Spanish/English dictionary. The cover is durable (which is a major plus since this will mainly be used by my young children... and myself); not too heavy; easy to use; and up to date.
