I really dislike vent mounts... so I modded this vicseed!
I really like the way this vicseed mount operates, very simpe, works well, quick and easy to use. What I don't like is that it's a vent mount! I had modded another vent mounted phone clamp in a similar fashion to be used with a magnetic VAVA mount, so I thought I'd try it with this vicseed.Basically, I cut away the treaded post on the back of the vicseed mount, cut away any protruding plastic, and flattened/smoothed the surface, then installed, (JB welded) a metal plate in it's place. You have to disassemble the vicseed in order to do this. Once the back screw is removed, the rear and front of the mount is held together with 4 "snap" type clips around the perimeter that can be pried apart with a small screwdriver. Once you get the pieces separated, take pictures so you know how everything goes back together. There are a few springs in there, but during disassembly, none of them flew out. The mechanism is quite easy to understand, so even if something happens during disassembly, you should be able to figure out how everything goes back together. Note that the screw had to be changed to one with a flatter head as the original would protrude beyond the plate thickness. So, once the JB weld cured overnight, the mount was ready to go onto my VAVA magnetic mount. The mod works great! Low profile, not blocking my vent, can be placed where I want it, and the vicseed holder works flawlessly holding my S22 Ultra. The vicseed clamp is very light all by itself, so it causes no weight issues for my magnetic mount, even with the added weight of my S22 Ultra. The setup works just as well as my older Joyroom mini clamp mod, (still fully operational), on the same VAVA magnetic mount. Note that the Joyroom clamp is even heavier than the vicseed mount and I still had no issues with my S22 Ultra ever falling off the VAVA while driving. My S22 Ultra with case weighs 9.262 oz. That said... depending on how heavy your phone is, YMMV.Another poster said the vicseed mount didn't work with his S22 Ultra... I guess it depends on the case he's using. With my "minimalist" case, it fits the S22 Ultra just fine, with room to spare.

Really useful design
This is the first ever car mount I've ever tried, and I'm pretty pleased with it. It definitely does its job. It stays in position while I'm driving, but it's also pretty easy to move and readjust. I like that it has a broad range of motion; I can easily move it up or down depending on where I'm sitting. I can even easily rotate it to allow my passenger to have better visibility of the screen. The mechanism that holds the phone in place also does a good job of keeping the phone safe and sturdy. It never slides around or slips out. The only downside I could possibly see as a potential downside would be that it's not the easiest to slip the phone in and out when the holder is adjusted to the exact size of the phone. It could be because I have a silicone-y case, but I find it much easier to press the button to release it. It's really not too hard, but I know that a feature people really look for is to not have to readjust the position every time. However, even if that is a deal breaker for you, I would still recommend this product because the readjustment seems very minimal in comparison to other phone holders on the market.

Lasted 2 years
Holder worked well. Adjustable.Did not fall off vertical vent. But plastic cracked around ball joint after a little over two years. I have the same one in our other Subaru and it is still holding up after having it for the same amount of time.

Simple and surprisingly effective
I was originally skeptical but am now a believer. This is a simple, well designed, and well built phone mount. You can tighten the clamps to your vent, adjust the angle, and easily insert and remove phones of different sizes with a very simple spring mechanism that does not feel flimsy. I've tried phone mounts with suction, that clamp to the overhead visor, or that use sticky pads. This is better than all other options in almost every conceivable way.

Holds my iPhone XMax
I bought this phone mount for my iPhone XMax. My phone has a slim case. My car is a Nissan Pathfinder and the mount is installed to the left of my steering wheel in a circular vent next to the driver's door. An iPhone XMax is heavier than a smaller phone and a vent mount has the potential to be unstable. I am happy to report that the Vicseed mount works great with the iPhone Xmax. Once installed in the vent and adjusting the width and angle of the mount my iPhone is held securely in the mount. Due to the weight of the iPhone, you need to make sure that the mount is fully inserted into the vent. In my case, I needed to move the mount to the left edge of the circular vent (not in the center) to keep it more secure. The good news is that the phone is not flopping about and stays where I put it, the bad news is that you can't move the vent vanes once the mount is installed. I don't find that to be a problem. The mounts black finish looks good in the car and is sturdy considering it is lightweight. The side brackets hold the phone securely and, once adjusted, do not need to be moved to release the phone, simply slide the phone up and out. My phone has a slim case that will fit perfectly on this mount. The charging port is unobstructed, allowing the charging cable to be inserted while the phone is in the mount. If you want to move the iPhone into a horizontal position then this mount is not for you, it only supports a vertical orientation. I would buy this again.
