A must have following a Bariatric procedure.
This book is a must for anyone considering a Bariatric procedure. I have a family member that had surgery many years ago and it was a total failure. Maybe if this book was available, success would have been achieved. First thing in the book is getting in the right mind and thinking positive. It is very encouraging and has self reflective questions to answer. Accountability is also very important and stressed. Anatomy and metabolism are explained in detail along with exercise and nutrition. There are 12 range of motion exercises, 19 stretching exercises, 10 yoga poses, and an exercise for each section of the body, just for mobility. Chapter 5 is for strength training with excellent directions and graphics of how-to. Chapter 6 is balance training and Chapter 7 are testimonial. All exercises are clearly explained and diagramed. This is a must have!

A+ This book was incredible in getting my mind focused and energy shifted to make changes happen.
If you would have told my 115 lb. and 21 year old ass that at 32 my weight would be a struggle, I would have laughed at you. As a fat kid in a skinny kids body for most of my life, adjusting to a healthy lifestyle has been a bit of a struggle. I've tried a lot of different things including eating styles such as keto and paleo. A friend recommended picking up this book as ahelpful way to get back into it. This book was incredible in getting my mind focused and energy shifted to make changes happen. Starting the book with my own evaluation was scary, sad and so healthy and uplifting. What a great way to begin the journey. One of my favorites aspects of this book is that it helps keep you accountable for your own life. It's a partner with you. One of the harhdest parts about working out is knowing how to do something and how to do it correctly, luckily, this book is full of photos and directions for best practices. It's perfect! Although this book is intended for post surgery help, I honestly would recommend this to ANYONE who struggles with weight issues and just needs help getting on track.

My Kind of Fitness Book
This is not the typical fitness or weight loss book – I was so relieved when I found this book and the issues I have struggled with were addressed directly. As soon as I completed the practices in Chapter 1, I knew I had found the method for me to get in the shape I wanted, for the long-term. One of the best things about Bariatric Fitness is it addresses things I have never seen in a fitness book. I have arthritis in my knees, but I have never seen that mentioned in a fitness book, I have just read “start running, jump rope” or other things I just cannot do. If that is you, including the cardio that we can do is so appreciated. After an ankle injury, I was thrilled to see how many exercises I could do from a seated position. And finally, what a pleasure to have exercise photos and stories of people that looked like me, not fitness models who couldn’t lose even one pound.

Perfect For Anyone Who Struggles to Keep the Weight Off
Great, in-depth guide for anyone pre, post, or just considering Bariatric surgery. The author clearly has a lot of experience working with overweight or limited-mobility patients and knows how to take that into consideration for exercises and stretching. She talks about how intimidating and overwhelming fitness can be at the beginning and goes over everything, from mindset to nutrition to the exercises and adaptations of them. Photos are even included with the exercises and stretching to make it all as clear as possible. What’s even better is that this guide, besides the first two chapters, is designed to be able to skip around for what you need the most and is a guide for anyone who struggles to get weight off and keep it off, not just for those who will have or have had surgery already. It’s easy to understand, with helpful metaphors to explain concepts, and she goes through everything with great detail and isn’t afraid to tell the reader to ask for further help from friends/family or medical/health professionals. Her guide is all about empowerment and being healthy to yourself, both mentally and physically, while keeping the weight off, so this is a great read for anyone who has challenges with those things.

A Comprehensive Approach to Fitness
I have a lot of problems with most books that promote weight loss, as they tend to promote unhealthy habits that have negative impacts on self-esteem. This is one of the first weight loss regimens I've read that is focused more on being mindful and respectful toward your body and gives you the tools necessary to ensure that your mental health does not suffer as you journey to get in shape. I like that Karlstad prioritizes mental health in the fitness regime, along with providing ways to have a healthier relationship to food. I think one of the most vital parts of this workbook is the emphasis on creating a support and accountability system for yourself. It's an acknowledgement that lifestyle changes are hard and that they are seldom accomplished on your own. I also like how she lays out the suggested exercises - with simple steps, pictures, and what it's supposed to target, Karlstad makes it simple to create a routine.

Simply awesome
Love the 5 ingredient approach. If you've already undergone bariatric surgery you're under enough stress already with adjusting your lifestyle. Your cookbook should add to it. These are quick and easy recipes. Most ingredients you will probably already have in your house or use frequently
