Q: I have a 125W speaker (NHT Classic 2). Should I be looking at the 80W number or 175W number to see what to get? Do I need a more powerful receiver?

Wattage is complex. In short, this receiver will have all the wattage you need. This receiver can get quite loud.Both speaker manufacturers and receiver manufacturers like to exaggerate their wattage numbers because they know it improves sales. Your NHT Classic Two speakers are 125 watts maximum. The RMS (root mean square) wattage for your speakers would be much lower, although NHT doesn't say what it is. A speaker's RMS wattage is what really matters.Likewise, this receiver's 175 watt per channel specification is an exaggeration as well. The 80 watt number is more accurate. Keep in mind that this is 80 honest watts compared to most manufacturers' exaggerated wattage.

Q: My existing sub woofer is bare wire, and this unit looks to have an RCA sub jack. Is this a problem? Will I need a powered sub-woofer for this unit?

Q: I want to connect my current speakers (from Onkyo HT S3300) to this unit. The Onkyo's show an impedence of 6 ohms. Will these speakers be ok?
