HP 10s+ Scientific Calculator

Easy to use. It was recommended by the Algebra II teacher. It’s been reliable, a good size to carry to class and a clear display.

This is a nice calculator. It is the best one currently allowed to be used on the national and institutional ACT test. The buttons are standard, but not small. The calculator is easy to use and will stand to repeated use.

Pros:* It is a good, light-weight and inexpensive plastic calculator.* it has a huge amount of functions and the display is nice. gives lots of information without being complex or slow.* handles fractions nicely* easier to use than a full graphing calculatorCons:* The plastic is not that thick, I doubt it would hold up to much abuse.* The price online varies from about $8 to $20, and it's hard to understand why it would vary so much.* hexadecimal input is a bit of a pain, not really worth using this calculator for that.* solar power but has batteries. tends to run mostly on batteries in soft lighting like in a living room or bedroom. full solar needs a bright room like a classroom or office. Coin cells would cost a few more bucks to replace one day.

Buttons feel solid and white color is cool. My middle school daughter had a cheap calculator from Staples that she wasn't too happy with. She likes the HP and got several compliments on it at school. If people are commenting on a calculator, of all things, it must be something.

The operational procedures are foreign to me. I am used to RPN and thought this one would be like other RPN calculators. The calculator's features are very extensive and would become useful but I cannot read the fine print in the instruction booklet. The cost is very reasonable.

So we bought about half a dozen calculators prior to my son's end of year math exam (call me paranoid, but I really wanted him to at least understand the tools he was using). This was the best of the bunch. The display is clear and crisp; the buttons are spaced nicely and have a good, clean feel to them; everything was marked clearly enough that even my mathophobic 14 year old and I could understand what it all meant. Plus that white case is just Apple-standard sleek - way cooler than the Texas models I kept pushing on him. A very nice calculator that did the job well!

I got sick and tired of having calculators that looked like everyone elses calculators. Since most professors are sticklers about using my HP50g on tests, I got this thing. The thing that sells me about HP calculators is that when you press a key, the calculator offers you a mechanical feedback of having pressed the key all the way, I haven't found that from anywhere else.Specifically, this calculator has two lines on it's display. One for entry, and the other for answers. Nice and clean display, keys and text written on them very visible and accessible.Great for your science classes that use algebraic and trigonometric functions.
