An understanding on grace
This book helps you to see what is it that you really seek. Much like R T Kendall's title God Meant It For Good, this one shows that for those who seek a real relationship with God, we very much find ourselves to have a heart like that of David. I would recommend this book for anyone who is going through a difficult season in their life. It gives both encouragement and comfort in those seasons when things seem impossible to survive spiritually. If you find yourself asking the questions this book helps to answer these are some other suggestions God Meant It For Good (Authentic Classics) When I Don't Desire God: How to Fight For Joy , Changed Into His Likeness , Sit, Walk, Stand

Some really encouraging chapters
I enjoyed reading RT's 'A man after God's own heart'. It was a nice supplement to my daily devotional time. Chapters are approximately 10-15 mins long. With 64 chapters to go through. There will definitely be chapters which will encourage and challenge you to go deeper in your relationship with God.

Awesome book to read
I always wanted to know why God said David is a man after my own heart. David committed adultery and murder, but to hear God said he is a man after his own heart. After reading this book and how RT Kendall, broke down scripture after scripture how David becamea man after God's own heart...I rejoiced, because it shows God salvation plan and mercy for the sinner. Thank God almighty for his love, mercy and forgiveness!!

Oh so good
This is the first Kendall book I have read. I love the way he uses the life of David to speak to every persons heart that will listen.

A book of examination of our motive and purpose for the Lord
This is another one of Kendall's 'heart' challenging books. He always make my 'theology juices' work for a living.

Food for the soul
Was studying the life of David and really enjoyed this thought-provoking and heart warming series of talks/studies. It is extraordinary that the life of a man who lived 3000 years ago should speak so clearly into today's world and just shows how human nature has not changed despite the very different culture and environment in which we live. The psalms of David give an amazing insight into David's heart and these bring the narrative of David's life with all its difficulties into sharp focus. The book is accessible, not particularly academic (though it is well researched) but is pastoral, spiritual and practical, covering almost every aspect of our lives including courage, deception, grace, depression, betrayal, despair, unfaithfulness and the nature of true faith. I will go back to this book again.

David would never again do anything as spectacular as defeating Goliath. Success came early, but he had to wait for the crown.
'David went back and forth from Saul to tend his father's sheep at Bethlehem' (1 Samuel 17:15).This book explores how you may spend years, perhaps decades wandering to and fro until God enables you to realise your calling. David had to wait twenty years to be crowned king after he was anointed by Samuel. How do you cope with the success of others when you have to wait decades for your own success? How do you cope with hostility from others within the church who are envious of your anointing?

Great read , totally recommend
I was recommended this book and what I have read so far does not disappoint, is truly a blessing and very relevant.Regarding the seller, the book arrived quickly and in great condition, especially for a hard back book, but even better was the price.

A Man After God's Own Heart R.T.Kendall
R T Kendall writes from his heart which is so filled by the Holy Spirit that each word is helpful, full of wisdom (God's words) and applicable to all who long to be a person after God's Own Heart. The amazing thing is that you realize that by God's grace you too can achieve the heights David does. Just by being myself and although I leak the Holy Spirit like a sieve, God loves me so much that he keeps filling, forgiving and guiding. The book shows, that God can use each one of us, however, weak, sinful or broken we are if we are open to be used. A very scriptural, erudite book. I gained so much from the bible text from using this book.Rosemarie CattleAn excellent book and a joy to read.Rosemarie Cattle

Great Insight
Studying the life of David really provides a great depth to understanding how to go about a relationship with God. Didn't expect certain topics to be covered such as coping with depression, stress or even how to handle success. But this book does just that! This is a great book to study and read over again. Very thankful for this book and would recommend it not only to beginners in Christ but even if you've been a Christian for many years! More so importantly for anyone who is curious about Christ. This book is for everyone
