Lift Supports Depot Qty (2) Compatible With Subaru Tribeca 2006 To 2014 Liftgate Hatch Supports Shocks Struts

The liftgate supports fit our 2008 Subaru Tribeca perfectly! The installation took about 10 minutes per support. There are no installation instructions included but a slip of paper with a web address FAQ for installation tips. Unfortunately the FAQ page outlines how to order, return, etc. thus the 4 stars for “installation “. An additional slip of paper suggests to take photos of the original before removal. This is probably wise as there is a “left” and “right” support but unmarked on the new supports. As shown in the photo, I supported the lift gate with a 2x4 during the replacement.The supports come with a post to replace the original on the lift gate. There is a small clip on the support as shown in the photo referenced by the pencil. The clip must be rotated and removed before the support is snapped onto the post. Be careful and not loose the clip since it should be reinstalled to lock the support to the post. The supports are strong and easily open the lift gate.

Just an FYI. These work on the B9 as well. Both sides fit perfectly. It took me all of 10 minutes to install.

SUBARU TRIBECA 2006: Easy to install once you figure out confusing instructions. There is a left and right sided attachment bracket on lifts. Place on correct side and facing proper direction. Don’t forget to remove old ball joint and replace with new one. Retainer pin on ball joint only tricky part. Support hatch open on top of 6 foot ladder or equivalent or it will shut on you. Works very well as hatch hydraulic lift replacements on my vehicle.

Install is easy but these only keep the rear hatch open about 2/3 of the way. So they’re about as effective as the failing OEM lifts. At least they don’t squeak? Still returning these.

I read one of the reviews about the difficulty of swapping the original struts for these. It took me about 20 minutes to swap them both out. My struts were so weak that the hatch needed to be propped up, but that was the only problem for me. I used an adjustable wrench, a socket set, and a set of needle nose pliers for the wires. It would also be nice to have a small flashlight to locate the holes to place the wires after installation.
