Durable and writes great.
Feels very sturdy and is easily refillable so you can continue to use the same case instead of wasting plastic.

Not sure about refillable part otherwise great
I don't think the make the red refills anymore. Should have looked for that first so knocking off a star for the misleading information. However, this is a really high quality marker and should last a really long time on the fill it has. My sharpies always dry out over time but these are supposed to stay usable even if you leave the cap off. If you are in the habit of losing these types of markers, do not get it. This is much different from a disposable sharpie. Super nice and substantial. Easy to write with...great saturation of color.

The Refillable Sharpie Reincarnate
About 7 years ago, Sharpie released a refillable permanent marker that had a brushed stainless steel barrel and cap and used refill cartridges. I had one and it was a beautiful pen, and apparently became very popular. Unfortunately, they discontinued it. This ZEBRA PM-701 feels like the Sharpie reincarnated. It has a brushed stainless barrel and cap and accepts permanent marker refills that are near identical in design to the Sharpie. The barrel narrows to a more cylindrical shape compared to the Sharpie, which was more tapered. But it feels very similar in the hand. So, if you find yourself wishing Sharpie hadn't ceased production of their version, try this one.NOTE: Sharpie just released a refillable holder that accepts a full size Sharpie pen; I tried it and it's chunkier than the original version and is painted steel rather than brushed stainless. I'd still reco the ZEBRA over it.

Great replacement for Sharpie Stainless Steel!
I didn’t want to like this as I am a diehard Sharpie fan. But this Zebra got me. The craftsmanship is impressive compared to my old discontinued stainless steel fat Sharpie. I store the marker along with a pen on a sleeve pocket on my uniform’s forearm. Very convenient. I liked the stainless steel look for a more polished uniformed appearance. But I need the writing tools to do more than just look good. They have to perform exemplary. Well, this Zebra stainless steel permanent marker has performed exemplary! Colleagues are impressed when I produce a permanent marker disguised within a stainless steel body. I just KNOW they hope for me to leave it on my desk one day. Already had one stainless steel permanent ink pen walk away last year while I was out sick for a few days. So I don’t keep extras at work. The stainless steel ones stay on my sleeve for my use in the office or in meetings away from the office. I definitely recommend this for those looking for a good replacement for their discontinued stainless steel Sharpie. And I bought this item with my own personal funds.

Great so far
This is an alcohol based permanent marker, not unlike a Sharpie. I ordered it to go with my other Zebra 701 writing implements, the pen and mechanical pencil. The body and cap are brushed stainless steel, while the clip and the flat end cap have a chrome finish. The refill is made of black plastic, a band of which shows when the cap is on, to indicate the color; likewise, the threads in the barrel and the lining of the cap are also plastic. I drew with it a bit, and it performed well. The point seems to be finer than that of the standard fine-point Sharpie, but I haven't done a direct comparison. I also never owned the famed stainless steel Sharpie, so I can't compare it to that. The only issue I noticed was that I seem to twist the cap a bit while removing it, which caused the refill to unscrew and loosen a bit, but that is minor. Now that it is properly tightened, it hasn't happened again. So I like it. I hope the refills continue to be made, and I expect I will probably order the other colors at some point to complete my set of steel Zebra 701s.

Durable, writes on anything (even wet surfaces!)
Wow, I've used a single PM-701 daily for a few months and it still writes like new. I used to go through a new sharpie per week, and half of that time was spent struggling with a barely functioning marker. These are the best permanent marker I've ever used - way better than even purpose-built markers for writing on lumber and material.

Yes it's expensive but still going
If you use a marker a lot you know there are times when the cap is left off or not put on securely well gear no more because some how this marker does not dry out. I dont know how they did it maybe its magic or maybe there was some pact made with a demon. Zebra has smarter than me scientists working for them. I also really like the metal barrel, I wipe my pens and markers down with alcohol wipes at work and maybe a metal barrel is not necessary but it feels good in the hand and that is what counts. Now the drawback to this is the price. It's an expensive alternative to sharpies. I had it on my wishlist for at least a month waiting for the price to come down and I think it only came down a buck or two
