Toyo Ito Paperback – October 15, 2014

I was expecting more from this book, but just for it to be done By Ito himself is a honour.There are some text for each project by him but not much information like drawings, details and lots of pictures.I guess I've been spoiled by the awesome books by Prestel...But it's a very good book, don't get me wrong.

ISBN 0714868604 is a 2014 reprint of ISBN 0714845051 of 2009 - a comprehensive monograph on one of the most influential Japanese architects. His selected 30 works up to 2007 are depicted in excellent color photos and additional architectural drawings, such as plans, sections, elevations, hard line axonometric views, diagrams, and schematics of exemplary quality; short text descriptions; superb graphics; well printed on mat paper; sturdy softcover. Similar to older  ISBN 1904313019/1904313450 .Toyo Ito has designed buildings described by him as "non material". These aerial structures, fluid and permeable spaces, avoid rigid compositional geometries. Ito has gradually reduced the obvious structure of his works, which can be studied as a series of variations on the layering of the facade. The "obsession" with lightness and transparency are expressed to the full in his most important Sendai Mediatheque (1995-2001). The most significant projects are presented starting with the Aluminium House of 1970-1 through to the most recent Tama Art University Library (Hachioji campus) (2004-7).
