I purchased the album for one song Avondale because I dislike the acoustic version that you find everywhere from the band

buy it ... NOW!!!
Although it's only 5 songs long, `The Underdog EP' is definitely worth it! Even if you're not a HUGE fan of Yellowcard, you can't deny the true talent of these guys and the greatness of this album. Even to this day, it's still one of my favorites! It has the mix of sugar-high feel and awesome lyrics that make Yellowcard soooo awesome ... but I can't forget to mention the hard-core feel of `Avondale' which the guys still play at all their shows! If you haven't yet checked these guys out, I HIGHLY recommend you to! And while you're at it, be sure to pick up their other albums as well ... they're just as eclectic as this one! As I say in each review that I do on these guys, they're truly talented and the best thing to EVER have come out of Jacksonville - even better than Skynyrd! And as a dirty south baby - born and raised - I like to think I know what I'm talking about!!!

Magnificant
I didn't honestly think these guys could do it. I'm not going to try to hide my feelings anymore. After "One for the Kids," I didn't think it would be humanly possible for the band to outdo themselves..every single song on that CD was brilliant, and their poppy, catchy melody accented with the violin is nearly unbeatable. Somehow, by some insane chance, they did it again with this 5-song EP on FBR (though I believe the band is signed to Capitol)."Underdog" immediately pulls the listener in for one of the most insane rides through innovation and non-stop catchy melodies and constantly sickening guitar riffs that just don't stop. It's one hell of a catchy tune, as are all the songs (by the band, for that matter), and although the lyrics are simple ("one more trip down, to the lost and found, to find your heart that the quarterback punk stomped on the ground"), the blending of guitar and violin are insanely brilliant. "Avondale" doesn't stop the rock, and for the first time Ryan (or Sean, whoever) breaks into a slight scream at a point. Magnificent. Finish Line and Powder are also both equally as great, and then "Rocket" blasts off into a slow progressive rock ballad that just kills. This EP is by far the best 5 consecutive songs I have ever heard by any band in my long life of emo/pop punk rock. Not getting it would be a sin.

Ohhh....it's over?
Well, I really didn't expect much from this cd at first. I mean, come on, 5 songs....now that just can't be good now can it? Anyway, I decided to borrow the cd from a friend....and it's been three weeks and I still haven't returned it. Why you ask? Cause it's just so damn good...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Underdog (5/5)A perfect way to start a perfect cd! There's a neat spirit lifting tune to this song, and who can forget that 'Whoo' they made before the final chorus? Oh yea, did I mention how much this song helps for cheering you up after failing a test?Avondale (5/5)My second favourite. The only tune that remains the same in this song is the chorus. The first, second and third verse sounds totally different and thus, it makes it extremely hard to get bored of.Powder (5/5)What would you get if'ya combine a good tunes with good lyrics about cocaine and a wonderful singer backed up by neat drumming and guitars spiced up with a violion? Easy, Powder. My favourite part of the song is the one where Ryan goes 'there's power in the powder dissolving in your guts'. I dunno why, it just seems a lil'hilarious to me...Finish Line (5/5)Brings you back to they way you were when you heard Underdog... uplifted(if there's such a word, hope there is). What more can I say?Rocket (5/5)I don't know why, this song reminds me of Empty Apartment(which is one of my favourite from YC btw). It starts really slowly...makes you feel sleepy...and just when you're about to doze off, you'll jolt back up as the last part of the song is played. A masterpiece if I do say so myself.

Holden McNeil is a BRAINDEAD IDIOT
holden mcneil is obviously a braindead moron, seeing that A) he doesn't like Yellowcard and B) he chose to give this 1 star and turn around and give some book on satanic gothic underground black metal 5 stars.......riiiiiiight. well i'll listen to the GOOD music and you can go worship satan and sacrifice animals and listen to bands that TRULY have no talent. it takes no talent to scream and be unhearable on stage. 2 power chords? please....you'll be lucky to distinguish what 1 power chord is on one of your hideously bad cds you like.anyway enough about people that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. hands down this cd is great and you should get this along with Ocean Avenue.....Ocean Avenue is amazing. I cant wait to see what Where We Stand has to offer.

Blast Stereos loud!
This is an amazing CD. Although there aren't the usual 10-13 songs... its still just as good as any other CD you have (if not better). Underdog has a great upbeat melody... as well as an uplifting feeling. Avondale... while its more of a gloomy song, still has a catchyness to it that makes it so irresistable. Finish line, is more of a mellow song. But it still manages to leave you feeling energetic and ready for more. Powder has a powerful rythum,(as well as lyrics)that demands attention. The slower versus help add more kick to the chorus, which you will undoubtably get stuck in your head. Rocket, is there infamous love song. Its slow melody and romantic lyrics just make your heart swell. You can't help but smile, and sway along to the peacful melody. Overall, this CD is a must have! It's one of my favorites, and it goes absolutley everywhere with me.

More great violin punk from YC
Yellowcard really impressed me with the full length "One For The Kids" on Lobster and I was looking forward to their next release. The Underdog EP is a stopgap on Fuelled By Ramen as they wait to release a full length for the major they signed to, Capitol. The title track underdog is one of their best songs to date and has all the catchiness and single potential of sureshot. Avondale features some of Ryan Keys strongest lyrics and shows a maturation in songwriting. The EP has a slightly slower tempo but is no major departure from their previous stuff, this is great because they still rule! The artwork is quite funny and shows the band getting badley beaten at American Football. Get this now because they could be big in a years time.
