Muddy Waters - Deep Blues (Guitar Recorded Versions)

Good Beginner to Intermediate Slide Guitar Material
I've been learning to play guitar for a decade. I am not very good. However, I tend to be able to play slide guitar material despite my innate lack of internal rhythm. George Thorogood, Hound Dog Taylor, Elmore James and even Duane Allman I can play those. I was running low on material. Then I saw this. This book has tablature for a ton of songs including Muddy's most popular and not so popular. The tablature is accurate. Most of the material is very simple, and a lot of the songs have similar riffs, rhythms and tempos. A beginner could use a lot of these to practice. For an intermediate I can go through a song in about an hour and also change a little bit here and there and add a little of myself.Plus I like Muddy Waters especially his work with Johnny. Good stuff.

Good book, a little confusion
Overall, a great buy - lots of great songs, the transcriptions are accurate, and the explanatory notes at the beginning are informative. However, one issue I noticed is that there is sometimes a call for a capo where there shouldn't be (e.g. Honey Bee). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the notation for this song says to capo the first fret, but this doesn't match the recorded version to my ears and doesn't match the key signature listed for the tune. It says to adjust the key signature for capo, but even if the capo should be on the first fret, it's confusing to not just have them match. If I'm doing something wrong here please let me know, as this was mysterious to me. In any case, I've solved the problem to my satisfaction by simply ignoring the capo instruction for this song and playing it open in E, rather than capoed for F.

A Blues Must Have.
I found the book to be a clear written translation of a group playing an emotional and expressive side of 'The Blues'That sound on paper is a real experience and the choice of songs has been done with a clear span of the great Muddy Waters life and feeling.

just perfect to learn playing Muddy Waters
31 songs with tabs and lyrics, all the hits and others;I like that each song is presented with the history of it, and the mood Muddy played it.Also the introduction with the history of Muddy, and good pics from early days to late ones.very good description of Muddy's guitar style and how to play it , before starting the songs

Good but not great
Pretty good overall, but the tablature doesn't always seem to correspond with the recorded version of the songs. Of course that could just be my crap guitar playing. Nah!Quite a few of the songs are in open tunings (mostly G) so you'd better be prepared to buy yourself a slide and start playing them delta blues.

utile

Great collection of songs everything seems accurate as expected
Great collection of songs everything seems accurate as expected, worth playing for classics such as Mannish Boy and Hoochie Coochie Man alone, though I've discovered some other gems as well like I Can't Be Satisfied, great back catalogue!
