How much power is in the power bank in mah, also what kind of batteries does it use (nicad, li-ion, lipo)?

It has enough power to charge your portable electronics and lasts 30+ hours on a charge.

Can this be used effectively in an inverted orientation (or any orientation) to check for air leaks in hairline cracks in a concrete floor slab?

Yes. At least horizontally. I've never tried it upside down.
