Best Mop Bot Since Scooba
The media could not be loaded. Contents:- Conclusion- Summary- Pros- Cons- Tips- Scooba Comparison- Braava and Braava Jet ComparisonConclusion:Better than any other currently marketed mop bot (ie it doesn’t just push wet dirt around on your floors). You may have to occasionally give your floors a good scrubbing, but this bot will take a lot of work off my hands and for that reason, I would recommend. I have several large dogs that track in lots of Florida sand and leave behind giant tumble-hairs, so I make sure to run my vacuums before mopping.Summary:Finally, someone has come up with a mop bot similar to the Scooba, lovingly called Scoobie. It is not exactly like Scooba, but it's by far the closest. It has decent sized clean and dirty water tanks that are separated. It does not dock, but then again, for safety reasons (think water and electricity) none have this feature. It actually talks instead of beeps when something is wrong, so no more having to figure out how many beeps means what. Until I resurrect my Scoobie, this will be my number one mopper! Just wish there was an approved cleaning solution. Hopefully, my review will help you decide if you’re on the fence about buying.Pros:• Easy to clean• Easy to charge, just place on top of charging dock• Battery lasts a long time• Voices errors (rather than having to learn a 2nd language of beep codes)• Comes with a remote control• Obstacle sensing. It also recognizes height difference in floor from carpet and tiled transition and avoids them• Cleans methodically• Quiet operation (when on the phone, other person doesn’t hear it running)Cons (numbers refer to specific tips in section below):• The voice, stutters on the word “starting”• Roller design Microfiber: will need replacements No bristles to aid in scrubbing• No dirt sensing technology (1)• Does not always spray consistently (2,3,4)• Does not pick up enough water consistently (3,4)• No scheduling (none of them do)• No way to set boundaries• Removed 1 star for the voice and the roller designTips:1. Use spot mode on tough stains or dirtier areas.2. Wet roller and wring out before use.3. If not sucking/picking up enough water: When you have the top of the robot upside down (the water tanks part), in the center of the robot is a hole with a valve, be sure this is free of hair and debris. Included is a scrub brush, which I have found works great if you aim running water into the hole while scrubbing gently at the same time. See pics.4. Thoroughly clean after each use. When emptying dirty water, refill with some water, close the tab, and vigorously shake before emptying again. If the water is still dirty, repeat. Clean all nooks and crannies. Wipe down bottom of robot, wipe squeegee. Check the wheels for debris/hair.Scooba:-Cleaning Method: Both spray water, scrub, suck up the water, and squeegees the floors “dry”.-Movement: This robot is more methodical in cleaning. Scooba has a random pattern cleaning.-Dirt sensing: Scooba wins. This robot does not have dirt sensors.-Water tanks: Both have separate clean/dirty water tanks-Scrubbing/Cleaning: Scooba wins with the bristled brush, more durable and scrubs better to get up spots and stains. This robot has a microfiber roller.-Cleaning Chemicals: Scooba wins, you can use approved cleaning solutions. This robot you can only use water.-Boundaries: Scooba wins, this robot does not have boundary markers.-Obstacle sensing: This robot actually senses obstacles much better, unlike the clumsiness of Scooba. Scooba has broken things by running into nightstands, tables.-Maintenance: This robot is much easier to clean and troubleshoot than Scooba. Especially removal of the roller… way easier to remove and clean. Voice notifications as opposed to beeps from Scooba.-Charging: Place this robot on it’s charging stand. Scooba has to be plugged in directly.Braava and Braava Jet:-Cleaning Method: This robot wins by getting the floors cleaner. It sprays water, scrubs, sucks up the water, and squeegees it “dry”. Braava has an attachment to fill with water to keep the cleaning pad wet and just “sweeps” the floor. Braava Jet sprays water and then uses a cleaning pad to wipe it up.-Scrubbing/Cleaning: This robot has a microfiber roller which does a superior job cleaning when compared to the Braavas.-Movement: All have a methodical (ie not random pattern) way of cleaning.-Boundaries: Both Braavas win, this robot does not have boundary markers.-Obstacle sensing: They all have good obstacle sensors.-Maintenance: The Braavas are easier to trouble shoot and clean due to their simpler design. Voice notifications as opposed to beeps from the Braavas.

It is OK for small rooms.
I wait with that review till now to be more objective and avoid first impression feeling.I use it for cleaning wood panels and ceramic floor. First I describe minus the robot. Tank is to small. 25 m2 and is empty. I need to divide cleaning in some steps. There is no hardware or software protection that I can use to limit cleaning space. So I use what I have on hand ( chair, children toys etc). Navigation in not predictable. Some times robot avoid big square surface with no reason. You can not trust him and still need to be watch to do not make stupid moves. My panels are chamfered on each edge and water remain between panels :(. Is slow but effective ( but not remove dry marks ).Battery should be bigger. It don't have any regulation amount of water.I wish to use less water and would be ok but I can't.Service is easy but you need to touch dirty parts (brush need to be clean to get best results). When tank is empty robot stop in middle cycle. When you refill tank and dry second it can't continue. It doesn't memorize if is continuation or new cleaning ( biggest minus ).Now Plus : For this price you can't get better robot for wet flor cleaning. Cost of use is low ( no paper pads and other ). Your kids will love to watch it. I think that iLife would deliver the best solution if add good navigation and bigger tank.

Where has this been my whole life?
(First things first....I've had this thing for going on 3 years. I *cannot believe* I did not post a review.)My house is about 2400 square feet, I have no carpet, and I have pets (some of whom are elderly and prone to accidents). I have tried countless different options to clean up pet messes, and while I really loved the Hoover Floor Mate, if you live in an area with ANY humidity, the thing is gonna rust solid in a month. I got a floor scrubbing machine from Home Depot, and while VERY effective and it has a several gallon tank, that thing is monstrous and maneuvering the thing is a nightmare even when it's empty. It also leaves a lot of dirty water on the sides, so I end up having to go back and clean up after it anyway. Cleaning the floor manually requires either that I get on my hands and very bad knees, or use old rags that I can clean, because string, strip and spin mops just sling the dirty water around, sponge mops are too small for my house and flat and lint mops are kind of pointless for my house.Enter the Shinebot. I don't know how I survived this long without it. I looked at several; I don't need a hybrid and I don't need a bunch of fancy features. I don't need my mop and my security system to talk to each other (or the toaster, or whatever). This mop has a pretty large clean water tank and a pretty large dirty water tank. I fill it up with hot water, set it on the floor, set it to the cleaning pattern, and off I go to relax or do other things, and off it goes to clean. It's REALLY quiet; I can hear it from the other room, but like in the way you can hear someone in the shower from the other room, or the washer/dryer/dishwasher/whatever. (It's much quieter than the dehumidifier). I can hear it beep when it's done with the cycle, which is the entire point of it beeping at you. The beeping and announcements are not annoying.Announcements? Yes. It will tell you things like "check clean water tank", "check dirty water tank" and "please clean nose wheel". This is VERY useful!I had been quite concerned that a microfiber brush would not be sturdy enough for the usage I had in mind, but it does an amazingly good job. If something like ketchup gets on the floor and dries, I might have to pre-soak it, but the mop will get it up.I'm actually pretty amazed that the microfiber brush does not get more stained. A rinse with cool water usually gets it pretty clean, on rare occasion a scrubbing of it with soap, but the brush itself does not seem to be holding a lot of stain (and judging by the contents of the dirty water tank, that is surprising). It does not alarm my pets, although my cat tried to play Chicken with it one time...(The cat changed his mind, the mop didn't care). My very few, very minor complaints are:o - It doesn't seem to want to get right up against the baseboards; I'll have to clean that more manually but it's a WHOLE lot smaller surface area to clean than the entire houseo - With the aforementioned humidity, I have to be diligent about making sure the charging surfaces stay dryo - I had to buy another battery (possibly related to the humidity; I now have 2 mops, more below)o - Sometimes it veers off into I-don't-know-where-land and I end up wandering around the house looking for it (at least it is too tall to get under anything I'd have to get on the floor to look under)o - A few random parts of my floor are *slightly* uneven (like where grout dropped or whatever, when it was built) and the wheels seem to get stuck on it, but if I barely tap it with my toe, it will run right over that.Okay, so why do I have two? I bought the first one, loved the hell out of it, and didn't use it for a while. When I went back to use it, the battery was dead and would not charge. Eventually I ended up ordering another battery from the manufacturer (shout out to their customer service!) and that first mop plowed right along...until the battery died. And then that one wouldn't charge. So I thought it might possibly be the charging base, and it was Christmas, so I got another one.Definitely the charging base, because the new battery charges, but the old battery does not. So now I have two mops and two batteries. This works well for me, because I can run one while the other is charging. All in all, I STRONGLY recommend this.
