Great dust collector and mess remover *2 year updated*
Did a ton of research before buying and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The cloth style bags work fantastic for saw dust and other messy collection with no cleanup. I have used this just as much to remove toddler debris as I have wood dust. The vacuum is strong, quiet and well designed. *2 year update* This unit has been functioning as the primary dust collection for my hobby wood shop for 2 years. After a short while I began using the dust right cyclone separator from rockler to prolong the bag life. That worked fine, except that the first time the hose clogged the immense suction from this unit collapsed the plastic lid of the rockler cyclone causing it to shatter. I made a wooden replacement Lid and switched to using 2.5 inch dust collection hose. That setup has been working fine for several months. If you are thinking of getting this for woodworking dust collection here is what you need to know: this is as good as any shop vac out there. It is quiet, which is nice, and it sucks a lot of air. The downside of this is basically just the downside of using any shop vac for dust collection. It is always kinda in the way with hoses running around and because of the nature of the motor it draws a lot of amps. If I put a load on my tablesaw while this is also running it will trip the breaker on the 20amp circuit in my garage. After 2 years of owning it I do kinda wish I had just sprung for a wall mounted dust collector which would move more air and draw less amps. At the same time, I have used this many times for cleaning messes and vacuuming out cars. As a vacuum it is a 10/10. As an actual replacement for a woodworking dust collection system it is kinda more like a 6/10.

Liking this vacuum!
Lost my Bosch of similar size to a jobsite burglary, and after much research, replaced it with this. While it has slightly lower ratings for such things as suction power and noise level, it is not noticeable on the job, at all. It actually seem like a nice upgrade from the more expensive Bosch, as well. I like the tall handle and accessory storage, the hose and core straps work perfectly, and I'm so glad I got the model without the self-cleaning function. On the Bosch, it was like an irritatingly loud thumping every 60 seconds. It had a shut off button, but when using auto on with my shop tools it was of no use. Got really sick of that. Other things nicer on this Fein are the quality of the cord, hose, and attachments. I'll eventually upgrade to a better quality anti-static hose, but for now I'm very happy with the one it came with. I wish they would offer a Permanent Fleece Filter Bag for this model, ( had to return the one I ordered ), as it's a great way to keep the pleated filter clean and fresh. I've found paper bags to be a waste of money, ( at least with the Bosch ), as they'd bust a seam long before filling and trash the filter every time. The fleece bags that Fein offers have no zipper, so they are not cost efficient for chip collection. My work around is City Floor Supply Edger Bag with top zipper & Elastic Cuff. With a slight modification to the inflow assembly, it can be installed and removed for emptying. I'll be using a cyclone separator for my shop tools, but this keeps the pleated filter clean for a long time. Oh, and I only use the expensive HEPA filter if I'm dealing with toxic materials on a jobsite. No sense replacing that one.

This machine is terrific!
Compact. Quiet. Sucks like an anteater on steroids. Bags could be less expensive, but each fill up takes quite awhile. Be careful what you sweep around. If you don't want a part ending up in the trash, pick it up before you sweep or this thing will pick it up. It's expensive, albeit, well worth the price. I do wish they would package the accessories with the machine and you just swallow a little harder when you buy the whole thing.

A Good Shop Companion
I'm happy I made this purchase. I made a few modifications and I have one suggestion and one gripe. For the most part this unit is a real workhorse and very welcome in my shop or, as pictured here, on a project site. The vacuum is strong and the exhaust air is clean. The filtration system holds on to the fine particles and air is significantly cleaner than it was using my old ShopVac. The black square power supply automatically turns on the vacuum when you have a power tool plugged into it and turn on the tool. I use this feature all the time. Very handy. I would suggest to Fein that they offered a different switch mechanism for the HEPA dust hammer feature (over the black square plug used by the auto-on power supply feature. As-is, the hammer is automatically turned on every time you turn on the machine. With this feature on, it activates a sort of hammer system that bangs the HEPA filter out every 30 seconds or so. This is great if you're collecting fine dust particles because it keeps your HEPA filter cleaner longer. With this turned off and no other filtering, fine dust would gum up your HEPA filter pretty quickly. When the Fein Turbo II is coupled with a Dust Deputy like you see in my first photo, the HEPA hammer feature is not really needed. Most material gets caught in the Dust Deputy. A little breaks through to the filter bag inside the mail unit. Virtually nothing gets to the HEPA filter. I would turn that feature off by default if I could, but I can't. If anyone else uses the vacuum, I need to explain how to turn off the HEPA hammer feature or suffer the continual banging noise in the background. The room you see pictured had a recently demoed ceiling and I was reusing a lot of the 1/2' drywall as part of a new soundproofing project to add mass. The Rotozip I used to cut out the old drywall (vs pulling it down) created a lot of drywall dust. The FeinTurbo II had no trouble cleaning it up - though, unfortunately, the vacuum didn't attach in any way to the Rotozip itself. I was blowing through liner bags quickly before I bought the Dust Deputy (attached) in December 2020. This Dust Deputy unit is a must for me & keeps the cost of operating the Fein HEPA system a lot lower. I fashioned a platform from 3/8" ply to mount the two-bucket Dust Deputy system on top & the assembly works well. The odd shape of the Fein top made securing a custom platform for the Dust Deputy easy. The orange bungie in the back came with the Fein unit. I just pulled it up and over the plywood platform. The hoses you see attached come from two different units. The skinny one is the one that came with the Fein Turbo II. The fat one was cannibalized from my ShopVac. This brings me to my gripe. Fein Turbo II comes with a hose system that is in no way easily adaptable to its environment. The Fein hose and adapters work perfectly together, but try to attach the hose to my Ryobi site table saw, my Dewalt miter saw, my Bosch router and router table, or my Porter and Cable jointer, my DeWalt orbital sander, etc. and you'll find yourself returning to Amazon over and over again to find the right adapters. Even with the collection pictured in the second photo, I don't have a good solution for getting suction in front of my thickness planer and some of the smaller hand power tools. If the unit operated in a Fein vacuum (pun intended) it would get five stars - or if they had an adapter kit that allowed me to connect to the majority of my power tools, I'd advise buying it, then raise my review up to five stars. The 4-step adapter that Fein sells just doesn't get the job done. I think I might use it for my orbital sander, but that's it. If you look closely at the Fein/Dust Deputy assembly photo, you'll notice that I needed to remove couplings to make the 1 3/8" hose fit the Dust Deputy. I had to remove the coupling from the Fein 1 3/8" hose that went to into the vacuum port and essentially "stuff" the ShopVac hose over the hole. I had to "stuff" the Fein hose into the Dust Deputy adapter leading to the cyclone. While all of this works with a little patience and persistence, it's a MacGyver rig. I would like the Fein unit more if it was universally adaptable to all of my tools and shop equipment. At this price point, I can't understand why it didn't come with some universal adapters. Hopefully someone from Fein will see this and say "Hey... we have the kit for you <insert link here>," but in the mean time, you might might to pick up a roll of duct tape and a few adapters if you want this unit to work in a well diversified shop.

Great vacume
So far its awsome , bought this instead of the festool mini for a $130 savings and it works with the festool perfectly out of the box no additional parts needed. Verry powerful! Added a mesh cover and ready to go.

The best balance between quietness and price
In my manufacturing shop we use a lot of vacuums. I've tried most of them from $700 Festools to $100 Rigids. This offers the best middle ground between the two. A couple of decibels louder than the Festool. If you want quiet above all else, then the Festool/Makita is the lowest volume vacuum available. However it will cost you. (they private label for Makita and others) The Rigids are extremely loud and we only use them if they are enclosed in a noise-abatement enclosure, or in hearing protection areas. The Fein is almost as quiet as the Festool/Makita for half the price. Also, much more compact. In addition, the Makita has an annoying delayed start. They must think this is a good thing but everybody in our shop hates it. We have three of these Fein vacuums and all have performed flawlessly for over two years. In contrast, the Makita motor failed after one year. Their customer service did fix it, although it was a bit of a long process getting it repaired.
