Q: Why are 3 out of the 5 I orderd running well blow 500MH/s and one not at all with an error rate of 100%?

This is likely a power issue. Be sure that your configuration is capable of delivering sufficient power to your AntMiner U2 devices. Many hubs are not capable of delivering enough power to run several U2 devices at once. Multiply the hub's voltage by its maximum load in amps to get the maximum wattage (e.g. 5V * 2.5A = 12.5W). Divide this by 2.5W, and multiply by 0.8, rounding down. The resulting number is the maximum number of U2 devices that you can safely operate concurrently and continuously using your hub. (e.g. 12.5W / 2.5W * 0.8 = 4 devices maximum).
