Calphalon Contemporary Hard-Anodized Aluminum Nonstick Cookware, Pasta Pot with Steamer Insert, 8-quart, Black - 1876992

Recently, my beloved Chantal blue stock pot of 30 years died. This isn't blue, but it is a truly superior stock pot. It is fairly heavy especially considering it is aluminum, has a high quality, well fitting glass lid, and is the right size for my weekly soup or stew.

I’ve been a calphalon loyalist since I got my first set of their pots and pans about 10 years ago. In that time, the original pans have held up to much abuse at the hands of my husband and our housemate. Those jerks dishwasher-ed them, used metal implements on them, and generally did everything wrong regardless of how many times I threatened them. Only in the past year or so had the pots and pans started to become unusuable, so I threw a few out and purchased new. I’m very pleased with the updated style of the new units. This set is great. My old pot was shallow and wide, which made it kinda a pain on holidays when every burner was needed. This pot holds the same volume but it’s taller and narrowe, making it much more friendly for busy cooking days. It arrived quickly and well packed.

Great quality and works as well as the 15 year old Costco one I bought. It was a great replacement at a reasonable price. I bought two of them so I’ll be set for life.

Great for making my Mexican molé, chile con carne, garbanzos and fava beans without bean scaring on the bottom of the pan. It's a great versatile soup pot with easy, quick clean up. I always hand wash non-stick Calphalon pots and skillets even though they are dishwasher safe. Love this 8 quart pot!

While I was looking at a number of these style sets on Amazon with 4+ star reviews, I chose this one even though it cost a bit more because it was the only one that indicated Origin; USA. The others cost less, but indicated Origin; China. I would have purchased a lower priced model had I known. I'll attach a photo and request Amazon to update the product info. Anyway, it seems like a decent set so I won't exchange it.

For the current price ($70) this is a great deal, normally the pot alone is $100 and even at places like Homegoods it would be $40-50, so $70 to get the strainer/steamer option is a really good deal. I don't use a pot this big that much so I've only used it a few times but it's one of those things that when you need it, nothing else really will work. So far it's been a great pot for really big jobs.If I had to nitpick anything it's that it seems like the pot itself is not made of material that's quite as thick as my other Contemporary pots/pans, but they may do that just to keep the weight down.

pot dented on receipt - top would not fittop not Caphelon - no logo on topshipped without branded packaging - just a few pieces of popcorn and bubblewrapnot sure where this garbage came from - China or otherwise?....

This is a very nice all in one pot for boiling and steaming. With the strainer, you don't have to lift the pot to take out noodles, potatoes, etc. Very durable material and matches the rest of our pans that we've had for years.

Great stock pot. Have used it every week so far easily worth it.
