Plan on using a lot more than estimated.
I calculated how much to buy for an average driveway and it came to 8 five gallon containers to put on two coats. I am half way done and just ordered 8 more containers. If you have an older driveway it gets absorbed like a sponge. It's going to be over $1000 for one coat, 16 containers. I can't speak to the durability yet but so far looks like a new driveway, plus a tear out and concrete would cost me $24,000 since it is asphalt over concrete. Container says it is guaranteed for 10 years. You do need to do the prep work, not just hose off the old asphalt. You need to use a cleaner. So it is a lot of work but I doubt I could hire someone to do it right. I removed a ton of dirt off the old asphalt.

BEST DRIVEWAY SEALER
20 years no sealer, used this, like new. Now I used 20 buckets on a 60 ' 3 car garage drive, but saved it. I needed just 3 the next year for down by the highway & could t get that tiny an order delivered, this came UPS at just about the same price FANTASTIC

Use a asphalt emulsion tack coat
The media could not be loaded. I used a asphalt emulsion tack coat, let it tack up and then BRUSHED AND SQUEEZED a coat of 1000 on then took my concrete broom and drug it over the length of the drive. I did this 5 years ago and again this year. My drive was terrible but the 1000 brought it back to life. I am going to tack again and do one more coat. Drive is 32 years old!!!!!

Pay attention to the prep.
It's a good product if used as per instructions. I used it approximately 8 years ago and just finished the driveway for the second time. You can't get lazy and take shortcuts such as applying it too thick. It is labor intensive for one person if your driveway is long. Preparation is added to your time as well. I power wasted the driveway the day before which revealed more fissures and cracks than previously thought. Picked up the patch repair. To be fair the speedy liquid rubberized patch is not very useful for any crack above an 8th of an inch. It simply will not do the job. My driveway is about 1200 square feet and took 5 - 5 gallon ultra max 1000 for the first coat. My driveway had many nooks and crannies. Will apply the second coat in a few days. I want it to cure for a while before its application. See my attached photo. In the northeast you will not get 10 years based on the natural elements. More like 5-6 with a spray coat every 2 years. Still better than paying for a new driveway.

Yikes!!
I'll keep this short and to the point.First, coverage is way off. I had to buy 9 containers of this for 650 sq ft. Bucket states about 350 sq ft of coverage.Second, it started cracking and chipping (see pic) a day later.BTW, I followed all instructions. Even spent a full day cleaning and preping my driveway. No stones, debris, etc could be found on driveway. It's a shame. The day of coverage it looked great. Was so excited until the next morning.

Used Blackjack 1000 twice now! Great stuff!
After reading a few of these reviews I should point out.... 1st, the 350 sqft. coverage is an AVERAGE. If your driveway is pourous you'll need a lot more product. DO NOT apply a thick coat. It will crack and flake, like the other reviewers did. You should apply very thin coats. It's a ruberizing gel and should be squeegeed onto a wet/dampened surface. Read the instuctions and watch videos on youtube. I have a new 350 sqft. driveway and used 1.5 buckets for a thin coat. it's a 9 month old driveway so it was very pourous.

Significant damage after one winter, no help from Gardner customer support
I carefully researched asphalt coatings and chose the Ultra Maxx 1000 based upon reviews. It costs significantly more than other similar products but given that I would not do this again for a long long time (or so I thought), it seemed worthwhile.I meticulously followed the instructions for application. It took me most of fall to cover as the weather was too hot, too cold, wet, etc. I gave the cleaned driveway two coats. Note that our driveway is very short and gets very light use.Several spots showed the uncoated asphalt so two applications were worn away after ONE WINTER. The label says it lasts ten years. Even small cracks were not covered. I had thought that tiny eighth or sixteenth inch cracks would get sealed by the coating without the need for a crack filler. This is not the case. Except for sub 1mm cracks, this will not coat.Several emails were sent to the manufacturer, Gardner-Gibson, but they did not help. One email was responded to saying I should submit some information for compensation but after that there was no response. Well, I do not want compensation just something that works as "advertised". I sent them pictures and descriptions but no assistance.I am not sure what is going on with Gardner-Gibson. Either they know they have a mediocre product or they simply have no customer support or both.
