GK&CO. Kukri House Brand name. This is the replica version of the kukri carried by Gurkhas in hand-to-hand combat in the Jungle of Burma during the 2nd World War. It is Historic Kukri. This Khukuri was originated in Nepal but later Indian Gurkha Army applied it. The blade is heavier and more curved then the current Kukri issued to Gurkhas. In the wartime, the sight of this formidable Khukuri in the hands of the Gurkha soldiers was enough to bring the enemy at their wit's ends. This Kukri is a very famous knife among tourists and collectors because of the fact that it was actually used by Gurkha soldiers/army during world wars. This Kukri knife played a very significant role in creating the history of the Gurkhas. This Kukri is also great to use for any kind of heavy or light duty. The water poured temper on the blade makes it very strong. The blade is made of highly graded carbon steel (mostly used in railway tracks). The overall length of the blade is 16.75” while the blade is 11.25” long. Besides carrying the knife in war time, this blade can be used to chop wood or bone cleaning bushes.

Replica Kukri
This is a review of what I received so a sample size of only one, Knife received on-time and looks like images on site. Mine came in a double wrapped box via DHL. The Knife came with no paperwork in box. First thing I noticed was the area on the blade where the blade meets the white metal transition to the handle was deeply ground in the opposite direction of the blade finish. This appears to be removal of the stamped or engraved point of origin. US customs law requires all imported items to have point of origin clearly displayed. I checked the DHL packing sheet and found a customs form dated 4 April 2018 with product description of" Nepal Handcraft and Sovoneer" valued at $15.00 with my shipping address. At this point I began a review of the knife and WoW! What a story it tells!

Fine example of a Gurkha Knife
I was a little hesitant when I ordered this knife, it looks great in the photo and costs more than the others out there. I was wondering if it would show up looking, well not so nice.it is a very nice, obviously hand made Gurkha. I went to the web site of the supplier and read about how they are made, they also included a brochure telling about the knife, how its made and the history of the knife. the knife has a lot of history behind it and I bought the knife for that reason, and I do not regret it. It came sharp and I have not seen any cracks or anything that would warrant me to send it back. One interesting note to the order, I was sent the TIN CHIRRA (the beast) not the Gurkha I ordered? Oh well, I'm keeping it and may order this knife again, maybe I will get it?I have read some of the reviews and some of the complaints are very silly. complaining that the knife does not have this or that???? You can see what the knife looks like, if you don't like what you see, DO NOT ORDER IT... Again, beautiful, heavy, well made Gurkha knife. The knife is HAND MADE by people who probably do not have the latest high-tech equipment, and there is some signs of that, but THAT is what makes the knife such a wonderful tool.I would defiantly recommend this Gurkha to anyone who is looking for piece of history in a well made knife.

Robust
Pro's:Solid and robust knifeHandle pins are tightCenterline is true and straightNo looseness or gaps in handle and tang. Handle is solid.Blade is sharp out of the boxCraftsmanship is excellent and knife is symmetrical from the tip of the blade to the pin of the tang.Arrived quickly.Cons:Packaging was garbage. Came shipped in a large envelope lined with bubble wrap. Picked up the package and knife fell out of a hole in the bottom of the envelope. Holes on both ends large enough for knife to fall out of.Blade fits snuggly in sheath but sheath is cheaply made. Once blade is removed, it is is difficult to replace in the sheath. I did not purchase for the sheath however. Will make a Kydex sheath for this knife.I would indeed purchase this knife again

This is a Big Beautiful Knife.
I have no idea why I bought this Gurkha but I love it. It arrived fast, sharp, and beautiful to look at.I will definitely be a returning customer for GKH-Nepal, whose website offers a wide range of bladed tools and weapons and a good bit of information on the process that goes into making them. When you hold this blade, you get the feeling that you're holding something built to last. This is certainly a working man's blade. Now I just have to wait for a would-be mugger to pull a butterfly knife on me and demand my wallet so I can demonstrate what a real knife is (or I'll get murdered, but it will be a great one liner anyways).

Well done
I love Kukris, and this one was well done. I've forged a few of my own but I hardened the blade evenly. This one (and most) from Nepal have 3 hardness zones. The cutting edge being the hardest and the spine being soft to absorb shock from chopping. If you tap the spine on hardened steel like a vice it WILL dent the spine so I've verified it is indeed soft. The cutting edge however is extremely hard, I have abused the living s$^t out of this kukri and it has held up very well. I only had one soft spot towards the handle which rolled a bit hitting bamboo, no big deal. Now the improved leather sheath, it's awesome! It's how it should have been done from the start. One coat of mink oil and it's outer shell is soft and supple as a leather coat/purse while still stiff having a wood lining. The belt loop is also a great improvement over the old buffalo hide sheath which was paper thin and felt like it would snap. I could wear this monster knife all day with the correct belt. The Karda (sharp knife) is used for small tasks and skinning which needed some refinement but is acceptable. The Chakmak (dull blade) is used for sharpening the Kukri and Karda and works as designed. All in all one of my favorites from the various Kukri houses from Nepal.

Product Review
This knife is fantastic. Great as weapon, tool for chopping, slicing and crushing bones etc. It has a pretty design and the handle is nice looking having a great feel in the hand. When you hold it, gives a sense of power, strength and fear of what can be done with it. I purchased it with the interest of how it has been used for self defense or fighting. I enjoy the history behind this knife. It has awaken in me the interest of learning the basic fighting moves. So I purchased a training Kukri with DVD and a training book. This Kukri looks well done with nice finish. I don't know much about knife making but looks like pride went into the making of this tool. I recommend this seller and this product. I took some time before ordering, learning and reading comments of other similar Kukri purchases. This falls somewhere in the middle as far as cost is concerned and my budget. All in all, very satisfied.

It's impressive very nice
It's very nice and look handmade. Yes there are imperfections but handmade is not perfect. It's very nice very heavy the handle is a little small because I have very large hands and it feels like a beast. I don't know about the Rockwell hardness I will know more tomorrow but I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something like this it is impressive.

Highest quality and better than expected
This is worth twice the money I paid, I cannot say enough for the craftsmanship and finish. One pass over my sharper and it is as sharp as needed. Came with a brown leather sheath and an embossed black thick leather belt loop (embossed on the outside) this is by far more than I anticipated and do not hesitate to buy. If I was in person before I bought it I would have been willing to pay far more. The two little bits, knife and honing tool stay secure in the sheath as does the knife itself. I am so happy with this overall I wish I could give 6 stars. Thankyou so much ex gurka knife shop for this heirloom quality product. It will stay on my belt forever. Buy this and be assured it is of high quality and a great tool.

Great all round tool
It is heavy, making chopping kindling easier than with hatchet. Holds edge. Does not look like product image (it is blackened) but overall a good tool for arborists and general chopping.

Balancing fail a big time
The knife isn’t balanced in the proper way of the knife is suppose to design. The one point balance test for this specific knife fail. Knife has a tummy on one side. I am very disappointed. This isn’t reliable for combat.
