Wall-hanging icon depicting St. Michael the Archangel, Prince of Heavenly Host. Performing his role of Commander of God's armies, he leads the angels against Satan's forces in the Book of Revelation, defeating Satan and his rebel angels during the war in heaven. He is referred to as "Saint Michael the Taxiarch" by Orthodox religions. In this icon, St. Michael is portrayed winged, wearing an armour and holding a spear, the weapon he often used to defeat the devil. The image is a lithograph glued on a wooden tablet and finished with gold leaf. The burgundy writing and halos are traced by hand, so is the internal recessed green edge, which makes the external border look like a frame and gives the subject further prominence. The loop on the back allows you to hang the icon on the wall. The back side boasts a certificate attesting to the crafting features of this Michael the Archangel icon, made in Greece.
