The gun looks the part and does come with alternate grip plates and weighted plates to make the gun a bit heavier for adults. It is a single shot weapon and requires cocking each time before firing. This is a simple operation and is easy to manage so even young people should be able to cope. The magazine slots in the grip and is easy to remove and fill. The gun comes with a small screwdriver so you can remove and change the hand grips. Mine was fitted with red grips and black ones came in a bag with two metal weights.A small hatch on the side of the magazine slides open and you can pour 7-8mm orbies in here. Once full, there is a small lever on the magazine that "charges" the weapon. Basically gently working the action feeds orbies into the feed tube ready for firing. It is worth topping up the magazine once you've done this as it will give you a few extra shots. Do not be tempted to dismantle the magazine. This is not advisable as there are small parts which may ping off into neverneverland.Protective eye wear is strongly advised, in fact you really shouldn't use this thing without them. Pretty much any kind of goggles are fine. Also, do not shoot each other in the face. It hurts, a lot and it's silly. So don't do it.The pistol has a fairly decent range and after a few shots you'll get used to aiming to allow for drop. As you have to charge the weapon for each shot by working the slide (top part of the gun) it is a slow fire rate. This isn't such a bad thing entirely as there is less risk of over-enthusiastic pummelling that you get with electric powered weapons. The orbies are bio-degradeable, dissolve when shattered and do not stain. So are safe indoors or out, and won't leave nasty marks on furniture or clothing. They frequently fragment when fired and on hitting hard surfaces, though you can crawl around and find unbroken orbies if you feel so tempted. They are also relatively 'soft' or squishy. However, they will sting at close range on flesh. So far even with rapid fire weapons my family have no bruises even after several hours of mucking around with these sorts of guns. There is a fairly solid "crack" when they fire, so no need to make "gun sounds" when using them. Range is not great, but it's not too shabby either. Effective range of 10-20 metres, accurate up to 10 metres, after that you need to adjust for drop. All in all I would say these and similar weapons are about as safe as you can get for combat games. Provided you follow a couple of basic rules.Wear goggles when usingDO NOT fire at point blankDo not fire at somebody's faceThat's about it really.Oh in regards to the orbies. They do take a while to soak in water. So, ideally if you have an idea to go for a weekend shooting your friends in the woods. Soak a bunch up the night before. We easily got through 8000 rounds over a weekend - but that was with automatics, not single shot units like this one. However, even with having to work the action for every shot, you can clear the magazine pretty quickly. On average, for this weapon, you can get around 40-50 orbies into the magazine. Sounds like a lot, but you can burn through quite a bit. The gun comes with a small container for reloads. Reloading can take a while, and don't forget to charge the magazine or you'll end up with blank shots until the rounds have worked up the feed tube. Soaking for orbies takes up to four hours. Don't try to use them before this as they won't work, they need to soak completely. If you make up a large batch of orbies, keep them in a plastic container - a tupperware box or similar with a small amount of water to keep them hydrated. They will dry out and shrink otherwise. It is worth noting I think, that using this and similar weapons in public areas would by ill-advised. While they are not real, some of the weapons look the part. In addition, in our current climate, people running around with guns are likely to end up with armed police talking to them, at length, with much disdain. So, private land if you can, in a less frequently used area of woodland, or have a chat with your local paintball club and maybe they'll let you use their area. They are safe for indoor use provided you follow basic precautions, the orbies will dissolve and you won't even notice the shrapnel when hoovering.Oh, yes, while I think of it. DO NOT shoot your pets. I wouldn't have thought that was necessary but I saw a guy shooting his dog with a gelsoft gun. Pretty damn stupid really. Don't do it.Safety first. See above rules.Public awareness second.Have fun.

As a gelsoft type gun, it makes a good ashtray.
My 2 lads got one of these each and were very excited to setup and get playing. Unfortunately, that's where the fun stopped. These poor excuses for toys literally fire one gel ball and then jam. You then have to shake the gun and turn it upside down. They ended up holding it upside down all the time as it's the only way to fire more than one shot. It's 2020 people - we don't have to put up with this trash anymore.

It doesn't work
Quite simply it doesn't work! The gel balls are easy to hydrate and easy to load but it simply doesn't fire them out which defeats the purpose. Very disappointing, I wish I had heeded other reviews. Not even able to send back as I dismantled it. Now in the bin.

A complete waste of money
This is just a visible toy, it does not have the ability to discharge the orbies, when they do, seldomly, emerge from the barrel they just drop on the floor just a few feet from you, a real waste of money it basically doesn't perform as the seller claims, my grandson was very disappointed.
