Flourish Book 1 Flora: Leaf, Flower, and Plant Designs

Great content, great book, USED!!!

I'm a visual person and loved this book as it is full of fabulous images of her projects. Loaded with project ideas and excellent explanations of how to make these wonderful floral creations. The inspirations from nature and her realistic renderings are breathtaking. I love texture and her book gives it to you on just about every page. I like that her techniques show you which tools are needed for each phase of the project. The comparison of the natural flora alongside her polymer interpretation is appreciated. This book is a must have for those interested in floral design. I just loved going through each page astounded with the design and colors. More importantly, Christi does an excellent job showing you how to reproduce these polymer clay projects in manner that is easy to follow.

My favorite by this delightful funny, beautiful, and talented Polymer Clay artist. You will giggle at least a few times while reading her silly writing style, I always look forward to her next book. Ms. Friesen really gives you many options for each project, so you don't beat yourself up as a beginner when you can't get that squiggle to squiggle like hers- she helps you realize that mistakes can be art that you didn't know was in you. (Thats not how she explains it but its what i take from her books) . If you are a flower fan, and think the typical flower polymer clay designers out there sure can make realistic looking flowers, but lack a special twinkle- this is the flower book for you- BLING!

I know Christi by taking her classes at the Orlando Fandango Festivals and she is the best. A great teacher, imaginative and expands your own creativity. Flourish is an example. You will learn, grin from ear to ear with her whimsy. I broke my femur and have been in a wheelchair with no weight bearing (13 screws n a plate) for 4 months. This book made my hours fly by as I felt better. I like to sell or give many items I make but not this time. I couldn't part with them. Thanks to Christi my recovery has been much more cheerful than it could have been. I am so looking forward to her upcoming "big" books. Still recovering and can use extended "Christi Friesen" sunshine.

Christi Friesen is an absolute genius with Poly Clay!! I have marveled at her creations for years, and am dying to try my hand at it. I've had very little experience with poly clay and this book is filled with information, pictures, and instruction. This is one of several she has written, and she has broken them up into types of creations. This one deals with plants, but she does much, much, more. If you like sculptural things I hope you will give her books a look-see. She is amazing!!

Wow! Wish there were more than 5 stars I could give this book. I am a lifelong mixed-media artist and Christi has great techniques and shares them as well as instructions that are clear and concise with detailed illustrations. Her style is informal and chatty and she shares not only the techniques she has developed but the little tips gained only through experience and experimenting. I can't wait for the others in this series. Even if you don't work much with polymer clay the techniques she shares can be adapted to other mediums as well so if you create art of any kind you should consider this book.

As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to have it. Christi has a wonderful way of explaining 'how to do anything'. I'm working through the book as if it were a textbook (the most fun textbook EVER!!!! If you want to learn how to make the most of your polymer clay, you need this book. Beginner or advanced - it's all good. In addition she has pages of eye candy, by other clay artists, so every time you tuen a page, you will be inspired. I can't wait to get the second book in this series.

If your polymer clay lends to flowers and leaves rather than canes and animals, then this is the book for you. CHristi has a humor that will keep your attention and fill you with what to do with that clay, turning things into what you never thought your were capable of doing. If you get no other book of hers, please try this one, as it is my favorite.

I love buying this artist's books as her technical knowledge of polymer clay is amazing. Her books are put together in a way you can read cover to cover, or dip into and are beautifully illustrated. You learn so much on every page. Highly recommended purchase.
