The listing for this starter says that it fits a 1995 BMW 325i and states that it is a bosch unit. After opening the package there was no indication that is was infact a bosch unit. Seemed more like a TYC branded one but still seemed to be ok. After taking my old defective starter out I noticed that this new starter is not threaded like the factory one is. Because it is not threaded your transmission bolt will slip right through and not be fastened down. Ultimately you will need to either buy some type of nut to make it work. I was in a pinch and decided to fasten it with lock nuts. It does work well with no concerning noises just wish it was more clear where it was manufactured and was threaded like the original genuine BMW ones.NOTE: When ordering a starter at least for the e36 chassis check to see if the mounting plate where the bolt holes are are thicker or thin like the rest of the plate. If the two holes are thin then most likely it is not threaded. If they are thick then it will be threaded. This starter mounting plate is thin and not threaded.

Bought the starter last minute thinking that I’d at least get some time out of my purchase, considering I rarely drive the car. Lasted one drive before the tab broke off from the starter leaving me stranded. I would highly recommend to spend the extra money on a Bosch over this aftermarket one. I now have to buy another starter and do the job twice. Such a waste of money.
