Great to start youngsters or restart horses from ground u
AWESOME book full of great training practices to teach your horse dressage in hand. Quick and easy read which makes it pain free to review a lesson.I bought this book to help me train my year-long and I thought it would be too advanced now - but a really they start out real simple and it's great for my young colt! We'll get YEARS worth of use from this book

I wanted to like it. But not helpful.
I wanted to learn how to do dressage in hand but apparently this book is not going to teach me. I can’t figure out from her pictures and descriptions what actions she is suggesting you take for what behavior. I also couldn’t figure out her reasoning behind using a cavesson vs using a halter vs using a bit. It also came across as condescending in tone in a number of places, which was just irksome. I gave it 3 stars because I liked that she was honest and admitted that some of her methods were controversial (mouth relaxation exercises) and the arguments against those methods (could make your horse learn to bite). However the arguments she presented against her methods made me opt to not use them! All in all, I don’t feel like I got much of anything out of this book. Going in the never to be read again pile.

Don't bother with this book
From the preview it seemed this would be a very instructional book. Sadly I was very disappointed. The Author gives few instructional tips, spending more time on commentaries about trainers she admires. She never details how to start a green horse, how to address common evasions when first teaching in-hand training, how many times (or duration) a week to practice or when to start lateral work. Save your money for a Trainer who can work with you and your horse teaching in-hand training.
