Love these bags, constructed well with shorter stitch length that holds, excellent quality, durable. I have a set I love, had to buy the same as a gift.

I would expect metal for better durability for what these packs are designed for
I used for the first time on an 8 day pack trip, First day the strap tore right out of the side saddle pack. the snaps and d rings are plastic, I would expect metal for better durability for what these packs are designed for. After 8 days of struggling with the plastic snaps of the top pack, I was very frustrated. Obvoiusly I cannot return them as they have been well used, but I would consider this if I were searcing for saddle packs. Now I will bring these to a speciality shop to be repaired after my initial investment, and only one pack trip :(.
