Took awhile to work but very effective
With having a chicken coop in our backyard for several years, we’ve seen an increase in rats after the sun goes down. I’d go out to the coop at night to close the door and they would scatter like crazy. I live in an older neighborhood with well established plants everywhere so I know there are a ton of rats in the area. Bought these and paired with some rat bait. Put a few of these around the chicken coop, A/C unit, and front of the house by my cars. After sitting out there for about two weeks, I thought there were useless. Went on vacation for a week and suddenly started getting messages from someone watching our house that they kept finding dead rats all over my property. Ten dead rats within a week. If rats are anything like gophers, they may be able to smell human scent on the cases. I didn’t wear gloves when putting these out but I’m sure the rats smelled my scent. After that wore off, they started going in and eating the poison. These worked very well for what I had going on at my house. The important thing with these cases are to put them exactly where you know the rats are going. Put one or two sticks of poison in them and leave them alone. Once the lid is shut, they secure very well. So much cheaper than hiring an exterminator. These will last for many years and rid you of your rat problem. Just be patient and wear gloves!

Only one problem
I had (and still have) a very base infestation of voles in my lawn, and the beds around my house. The spring I bought several different brands of bait stations, and I concluded that the design of this one was best, so I bought 6 more. It’s got a long “tunnel” that the animal has to go through before it reached the bait, with sharp turns. I thought that would do a better job of keeping animals other than voles for eating the bait.First note: They are easy to set up, to open and close, and to fill and refill with bait. And I’m sure that we’ve gotten rid of some of the voles.THE ONLY PROBLEM IS SQUIRRELS.No matter which bait I use, the squirrels chew right through the outer walls of this bait station. They either chew the walls around the entrances (to make them big enough for them to get into), or chew right through the “back wall” of the bait station — bypassing the tunnels altogether — directly into the chamber where the bait is held. Securing the station in place only seems to help the squirrels chew through it more quickly.RESULT? Pets and other animals are no longer safe around the station, and lots of my suburban neighbors are complaining to me about having 3 or 4 of the (adorable) squirrels show up - dead or dying - on their patio. ‘Not good.I do think this station is well designed, but if (like me) you live in a suburban setting with a lot of squirrels (and perhaps small rabbits), this bait station is probably not for you. If they could make a metal version, it might be a lot better.PS: If you think that I’m somehow using the bait station incorrectly, please let me know!

Exterminators Choice - 6 Pack Rat Bait Station Boxes with 1 Key
My son has a mouse problem at his neighborhood. Purchased these to tackle this problem. There are a lot of these type of traps out there, but these were very heavy. The only thing I did was to drill holes and attach some concrete bases to them using plastic anchors, so they don't move in our West Texas winds, or their dogs turn them over just being curious. Quality traps, easy to open and service. (Only thing I wish was different, is that the 6 traps only came with one key. Had to purchase extra keys, in case one was lost or misplaced.) After several months, the mouse problem is under control!

No more mice
I live in a rural area of upstate New York with forest and Fields surrounding my house. House is less than 2 years old and I had mice getting into my basement I was consistently catching them with snap traps. I placed the bait boxes in service in March 2024 in various locations around my home. I have refilled them over the summer with fresh baits they are definitely controlling the mouse population I have not caught a mouse inside of my house since April 2024 I have refilled the bait stations twice I just checked them today August 30th 2024 and the Baits have been partially eaten but not as much as the first inspection going to refill them again with fresh baits because winter is coming I would highly recommend this purchase if you have it rodent problem.

Work very well.
The style is something of an industry standard, I see them in Chicago often (thank heavens). If you have a dog that is a good hunter they are protected from poison but since the station weighs very little I have to place a concrete block on top to keep them in place, otherwise puppers will carry it around if a mouse or rat is inside. They are plenty strong to take that abuse.

Not great for getting rid of rats
The plastic these traps are made of is not strong enough to withstand squirrels. Instead of getting rid of rats in my garden, I had holes in my brand new traps and drunken squirrels. The rats were still enjoying life…
