Great Pho Base
Great starter for your pho. Just add water, chicken, onion, ginger, and your favorite toppings.

Makes Delicious Pho Ga
I had my doubts, but this makes a delicious chicken pho. I added some uncooked chicken, onion, and fresh ginger to a pot of water and cooked for 20 minutes, skimming the foam. Then I removed the chicken, onion, and ginger and strained the broth. I then added the powder and seasoning packet and simmered for 30 minutes. I added noodles and slices of the chicken to a bowl, poured in the broth, and topped with cilantro, jalapeño slices, and squeezed lime. It was delicious! My only criticism is that this product is supposed to make a gallon of broth if you use half of the powder and 2 gallons if you use the entire container. Each of the 2 seasoning packets is used for one gallon. If you are one person or even a few, you are forced to freeze the rest of the broth. There is no way you can make a smaller amount because of the seasoning packets. That's why I gave it four stars instead of five. By the way, it says one serving size of the powder is 2 teaspoons, which contains 1,380 mg of sodium.

If you love Bun Bo Hue, buy this!
I recently moved down south and the closest authentic Vietnamese restaurant is an hour away. There are a couple more americanized spots but they don't sell Bun Bo Hue, which is by far my favorite dish. So the other night I thought I'd just make my own. Well, there were a number of ingredients that I couldn't get my hands on. So I did a quick search to see if there were any alternative methods which is how I stumbled upon this product. I knew it wasn't going to be the real deal but I figured for the price, it was worth a try. And WOW, I am impressed!! It's great as is but I like my Bun Bo Hue a bit spicier and sweeter so I doctored it up a bit with a few ingredients I had on hand. SO GOOD and HUGE time saver! Give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

Fishy and salty!
Which I think is the goal, but definitely tasted different from the pho I've purchased from restaurants. Not sure which is more authentic, but this makes a TON of broth, so be prepared to freeze some if you don't share!

So salty and underseasoned
Is it easy? Yes but but it lacks depth of flavor and was so salty I ended up just pouring the whole pot of broth down the drain. Just make your chicken pho from scratch. This is not worth it.

Easy pho at home for CHEAP!
The media could not be loaded. We love pho! Especially on a cold night! However, it can get costly for a family of 4 at $10 a bowl. I could make it, but it’s a lot of ingredients and time that go into making it from scratch. This broth base is amazing!!! I boil the included herb packet, onion powder and ginger in a pot for about 10 min in 2 cups of water. After a roaring boil I add rice noodles, precooked chicken, 4 more cups of water and soup base to taste. After simmering for an additional 15 min, I add in some fresh lime juice, Hoisin sauce, sriracha and some fresh cilantro before serving. My family loves it! It tastes better than the restaurants and it’s so quick and easy. And for the price of 1 pho you can probably get 12 bowls at least!
