X-acto double knife set - perfect
Unless you REALLY want that nice wooden box to store your blades, this is a fabulous (and economical) set.I have used X-Acto for decades now, a great blade for those small to intricate needs... ok, I never gave up my childhood hobbies and continue to do highly detailed work.X-Acto is the iconic blade producer, and this set offers a utilitarian's variety of shapes and edges, the same as the boxed set.I can't explain why, but the 2 blade holders-handles in this and other sets are my favorites, sometimes I need a heavier knife handle to get things done, other times the finer knife handle for detailed trimming.I have never had an X-Acto blade or handle fail, even though some were grossly abused. I purchased this set because my old ones were ... abused and no longer pretty, and trying to get all that sticky gunk and stuff cleaned off wasn't much fun. My bad.The wooden box is nice, but the reality is that if you are a serious and active hobbyist and/or detailer, you will have your blades out and ready for duty, and I found that a nice and large plastic desk organizer serves best for keeping my tools at hand and organized and easily accessed than... a box.

I am a person that is really into arts and crafts this tool is the best. The blades are super sharp so you must be careful. It has versatile uses so owning two of them goes a long way. I used mine for different things. One knife was used solely for my cake decorating. The blades cut cleanly through fondant and gum paste with little resistance. The other knife, the thinner one, was used for miscellaneous things. One use was cutting fabric while another was cutting thick paper such as card-stock. I am writing this review after four years of owning this set. The handles last a long time you just have to buy replacement blades periodically. I bought my replacement blades locally at a craft store because they were cheaper. My handles are just now starting to lose tension where the blade is attached. This makes the blade wobble when I try to cut something. I am now getting ready to buy a replacement set. This set is worth buying.

And IMHO my view these will last a good long time
PLEASE BE CAREFUL as these are sharp, that should come as no surprise I have had a need to use these knives twice (so far) and they have performed admirably. It take and extra 2-3 seconds to get the case open --- this is a GOOD THING --- I makes me MORE cautious about rapidly flinging off the top. The feel of the knives on / in the hand / fingers --- the serrated (or roughed up) part makes them easy to grip. Because the work that I have used these for ... It has beed under a 20X lighted magnifying glass ... I have a good view to the machining that went into the barrel as well as the blades. And IMHO my view these will last a good long time. BTW I purchased these and were not sent as an eval item

Great quality knife!
Great sturdy knife. I love the choice of blades. It's easy to use and to replace the blades. If I was to make one criticism it's that the case in which they are kept isn't great. I'd have liked something with hinges that snaps shut and has compartments that hold everything more securely. I suppose you can't expect a top notch case for the affordable price. But the blades and blade holders/handles are a good quality and sturdy! I'd recommend these to anyone wanting good quality x-Acto knives.

Blades come loose after just a few uses...
The blades are nice and sharp, but they become loose after just a few uses. After using the X-Acto knife a handful of times, the blades started wiggling out of the slot in the top and popping out if I didn't wedge them back in.This was with very light use – I was not cutting anything hard (like plastic or rubber or anything you'd expect to put pressure on the blades), so they should have been much more durable. As others have said, the case also sucks. Good luck getting the tools and blades to fit right back in. You have to arrange them precariously after every use, so if that's something you enjoy then you'll love this extra-frustrating case.I gave this a 3-star review because aside from the negatives, the material quality is good and it does work and cut as intended...just not the best utility design.

No substitute!
Although quality has dropped a bit over the years there is still no substitute for an X-Acto knife! Anytime i'm doing some sort of repair or modding I keep them at hand. The selection of blades is good but I would suggest buying a pack of genuine X-Acto # 11 blades.
