These are exactly what my parakeets needed. The packaging could be better for the product. The sand that has fallen off gets everywhere if you're not super careful.

My two parakeets enjoyed these but prefer the yellow sand covered ones.

My parakeets like them, but they fall apart within a couple weeks as the birds chew on them. They are a bit narrow and hard to apply to perch, plus too short in length as well!

The item is not as described at all. No seashells of any kind. Not even the tiniest crushed piece. Also, the sand isn't sticking to it at all. Not sure if we got an old batch or not, but so much sand is loose in the package, we won't even open it as it will be a complete mess! We have purchased many sand perch covers, and they are more like sandpaper. This is like someone sprinkled a bunch of sand on it hoping it would stick to lightly sprayed glue paper. Horrible! Definitely do not recommend! Not sure if we should go through the trouble of returning or not. Still have time to decide. If we don't it's just going in the trash, so I guess it would be better to get our money back, than literally throw it away. Save your money! There's far better out there!

I wanted these for the edge of the top of my birds cage. He always was on top and he would sit on the edge. I would get these and open them and put them on the edge . They worked great so with them and the sand paper on the flat part he was able to keep his nails from getting too long. Due to an injury to his wing feathers on one side he was unable to fly before we adopted him 26 years ago. He was the dearest little bird and we loved thin very much. He passed away a week ago and I so miss him.

These are just what I need to keep my budgerigars toenails under control. Please keep in mind any kind of rough perch can cause foot problems like abrasions if not used wisely. I use these only on 1/10th of the available perches for my birds and I only use them on the underside of the perches. The softer upper parts of their feet never touch the rough surfaces, just the toenail portion makes contact. My birds always have the option of choosing different sized and shaped limbs to perch on. Careful application and monitoring of the feet makes these work the way I need them to.

When I got the product and opened it up there was no sand or at least minimal sand left on any of the pearches, so that was a waste of money.

The birds are happy with the perch covers which is all that matters.
