My first review
I've read a lot of reviews but this is the first one I've written.I crushed my big toe 20+ years ago but didn't (quite) lose the toe nail. I did something bad though because it was never the same after that. It always cut uncomfortably on the side next to my other toes. I spent years being super careful about how I trimmed the nail, I would file the crown of the nail to make it more flexible, cut notches in the front edge and assorted other things that would provide minimal and temporary releif.During one particularly uncomfortable period last year, I started googling for a solution. There are a couple of products that seem similar to this one. Curve Correct is one that includes multiple plastic spring braces that you can use in a disposable manner. I didn't use that product so I can't comment on it's efficacy. I was concerned that the plastic braces might not provide enough spring to flatten my nail. I have some experience with Carbon Fiber in other contexts and I had more confidence in it as a springy laminate.I followed the instructions very carefully (important). I thinned the nail as I have in the past, cleaned it with acetone (be careful of the nail polish removers that claim to not dry the nail. I suspect they leave an oily residue that affects the glue bond). and applied the spring as explained in the instructions.Wow. Immediate relief from a pain that had been with me for 19 years. After wearing the spring for about 6 months, (the time it took my nail to fully grow out), I remained comfortable for about 6 months after that.To be clear, this meant paying more attention to my feet than I really wanted to. The spring would occaisionally fall off and I'd have to acetone the old glue off the spring and my nail, re-prep and re-apply the spring; maybe once a month.I am starting to feel a little of that old discomfort again though so I'm not sure this is really a permanent solution. Still, it's cheap, easy and effective enough that it still seems better than a visit to the podiatrist.I kept the old one and plan to start the process again shortly. I am actually thinking of getting a second (twice the force might make a more permanent fix?). We'll see how that goes.

BIG BIG WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!!!!
I am taking the time to let you all know DO NOT WASTE your money, first off I followed all the instructions to the tee. Here are all the things that are wrong with this product. One they only give you one little applicator to go over your one toe.It really requires at least two. Once you prep your toe for the application it will not stick to your toe trust me. And the profit they must make on this kit must be really big, because the whole kit is a joke.I am so angry for once again getting ripped off by a idea that is sold to people that are suffering with a ailment only to have yet another company give false promises. This kit will not work.I do not know how I will fix my very painful ingrown toenail, but this was not the answer. I should of listened to the other people that gave bad reviews. But when you are in pain you are willing to try anything.I feel like a sucker.

Not sure yet
I had a little trouble applying the strip, the first side went on right away, but it took 3 tries before I could get the other side glued on. It relieved the pressure right away, but after one month, it came off. Fortunately , I found the strip and am going to reapply it. So we'll see if it will work.

AWESOME RESULTS
I have to come to the defense of this product. 10 years ago, I had a very painful ingrown nail on big toe; had surgery (hideous, painful procedure). After the surgery, I did research, and some of the advice was to NOT let the pod cut out the nail...too late!! I had 1/3 of the nail cut away, but it grew back ingrown AGAIN! This time I would find another way as I will never undergo that procedure again, so I researched other remedies and found NailEase, thank god!!! I followed the instructions exactly and finally got the band on the nail. It wasn't exactly easy but I managed to get it in the right spot, closer to the cuticle because it stays on your nail until it grows out (I even went scuba diving and the band did not come off). After a few months (I think) the nail grew back normal, no ingrown nail!!! Yeah! So I bought 2 more kits. After the first one grew out, I used the second kit to be sure the nail would continue to grow normally. I kept the 3rd kit on hand just in case they stopped selling them. I never had to use the 3rd kit. This does work if you have the patience to do all the steps. I think it works best on the big toe nail. If NailEase did not work, they wouldn't be in business. 10 years later, they are still selling these kits and I am so happy to see this!!!

Returning the product!
After having multiple ingrown toenails, and paying a podiatrist and awful lot of money, I decided to do some research and see if there was anything out there that I could do at home once I started getting the ingrown once again. When I had come across this product I was hopeful - it seemed that many people had success with it and I thought I could do this!! I ordered this product and even paid for one day shipping. I watched the online video for Nailease twice, I read the directions 3 times and thought ok - here we go!! I even let my foot air dry for 2 hours after washing! The steps were simple, and I followed them. Everything was going great until I had to clip the brace because it was too long - the brace split length wise right down the middle when I cut it. I then couldn't get the 2nd side to bond on my toe. I tried everything, more glue (just got really messy), just holding it there for 10 minutes (a no-go) and I even had my son try to get it to stick and no such luck. If only this kit came with 2 braces, then I could have re-started. But I couldn't. I ended up taking off the brace altogether and contacting my podiatrist. I am returning this product for a refund and I guess I'll just have to save my money to get the nail bed removed.
