Kenji’s prototype
Here’s the history behind Kenji’s prototype Kenji is based on a 0 series Shinkansen, also known as a "Bullet Train". These were the first generation of such engines and were designed specifically to run the high-speed Tōkaidō Shinkansen line in Japan. By 2008, all units had been withdrawn from active service, however a large number are preserved, including one at the National Railway Museum in York, which was donated as a gift by the West Japan Railway Company in 2001. This motorized engine can also run on wooden track. I tested it out Today and it works perfectly I absolutely love this engine

The Amazing Kenji
The Kenji I received is way different from the picture. Its purple rather than blue, the axel wheels are black not gray and is missing the coupling rod that attaches to the rear axel. I understand his character is an electric train and does not require the coupling rod but just throwing it out there. Other than my son questioning me why Kenji has missing parts and painted different, the train works just fine. I'm returning it and purchased one from Target.UpdateHad to return Targets train. Turns out Kenji was redesigned and has a new look. Target's Kenji looks identical, looks like I'm only keeping 1. Other than that my son loves Kenji.

Good addition to another track
Bought this train as an addition to a train set, my nephews got for Christmas. They like racing Thomas and Kenzie around the tracks. Really cute, like that it’s three cars that link together. Seems to run a bit faster than the Thomas train.

Nice Little Thomas
Nice product; DON'T expect it to work on wooden tracks.

Fun, strong toddler train
This is an awesome little train. The "engine" is nice and strong, and will pull all the train cars we have (around 10). The only "negative" is that my son's new job is turning the engine off every time I turn it on. On the bright side, it's a hilarious way to wake him up from his naps (only if they go too long.)

Broken.
Was a little present for my son who was coping really well with lockdown, despite his autism. Packaging was great, he was happy. Until we realised the Thomas train was broken. Tried so many batteries. Couldn’t return it without sending the carriages back, and they were the main reason for buying the product in the first place. So yea, £20 for two carriages and a broken Thomas train. Not worth the money.
