Excellent map for driving around all of Iceland
Excellent map for driving around all of Iceland. We just spent two weeks driving clockwise around Iceland, adding the West Fjords and East Fjords to the usual circuit on the Ring Road. Details of gas stations and museums/points of interest very appreciated and appear to be accurate. We did not feel the need to purchase any of the much more detailed map books carried by the N1 and Olis gas stations. This map is far superior to the National Geographic map. 1) It is more accurate, showing some of the new tunnels in the northern coast of Iceland, helping us make critical driving decisions. 2) The graphics on this map are much clearer and more readable. Choice of font and color for the text results in superior legibility. I had to keep getting the magnifying glass out to read the Natl Geo map while sitting at the dining room table. That isn't going to work when in the car!

A fantastic map that never led us astray.
We loved this map! My husband and I used it exclusively when traveling around the island during our recent visit, and it never failed us (we didn't use GPS once). It's very accurate from the route numbers, to the mileage, to the type of road that each one is. What made it very user friendly are the listed land marks and tourist attractions. We knew exactly where they were located instead of having the guess, and how we needed to get there. The map is also waterproof - a wonderful feature since (1) it rains a lot in Iceland and (2) it prevents it from ripping like the old-time ones. We folded and refolded it more times than I can count and it still looks just as good as when we got it. No doubt, it will be around for awhile. (3) It was easy to read. The writing wasn't microscopic, nor were things jammed together so that you had difficulty reading it.I would certainly suggest this map when traveling through Iceland. It did us very well!

After all the research I did on the internet about Iceland and what there was to see and do there, this map determined my itinerary. I had 9 days to circle the island in a camper van. Time was the enemy. With this map I was able to mark the areas of interest to me, determine how to get there, note the gas stations and grocery stores around the entire island, and figure the time it would take to drive from one point to the next. I would not have gone to Iceland without this kind of map. There are too many amazing things to see there and I am sure I would have missed most of them without this map. I plan to go back to Iceland and this map will go with me.

Really useful for looking up where the gas stations are
Worked well, even in 2016, at identifying roads and landmarks. Really useful for looking up where the gas stations are. Traveled the entire ring road, mostly relied on GPS, but this map was a must-have side companion for finding nearby stores and road types. The paved vs unpaved vs off-road designations were EXTREMELY valuable information that the Garmin did not provide. Was absolutely worth ignoring the GPS, based on the advice of this map, to take a longer but paved route around certain "shortcuts". Good & accurate.

Very helpful to have in conjunction with a GPS as it gives you an overall view of the island. It is also helpful that it is water resistant as we encountered rain and it didn't get damaged.

1:400.000 scale map should provide better details
At 1:400.000 the scale of this map can deliver more detail than many other maps. This has its price in that the map itself is very large and too large to fit Iceland onto one page. As you drive from the western onto the eastern half of Iceland, you need to switch from the front to the back side of the map.-) Disappointing : despite the good scale, the topographical view lacks details. altitude lines are at 200m intervals (instead of 100m) and the shading IMO does not do a good job in showcasing the mountainous landscape and steep cliffs. I was expecting better for such a large map.-) CAUTION : The maps distinguishes between major, significant & secondary roads – in Iceland it is more important to distinguish paved, unpaved and sometimes also width of the road. A secondary road on this map can be a single-lane road with many, deep potholes that is not recommended for big campers or trailers.-) CAUTION : If you plan to drive F-roads, you should get a more detailed map – this one lacks information about fords along the road.It appears that the makers of this map were hedging their description of the road quality : they add “probably paved” to the description. Now you can’t blame them if the road is a narrow gravel road with potholes.+ LIKE : the Legend contains icons a visitor likely is interested in e.g. vista points, geysers, waterfalls, gas-stations etc.- DISLIKE : the scale offers details but the index is lacking details. If you want to find the famous GULLFOSS waterfall, the index is of no help – the map does show it by name and with “waterfall” icon next to it if you know where to look.+ LIKE : waterproof. The map fell into a rain puddle and it was easy to quickly clean & dry it. Cannot yet tell how it will fare in the long run after it has been unfolded may times- DISLIKE : If you’re looking for a map of Iceland to hand on the wall – this is NOT the map you are looking for. Iceland cover front & back side of the map.The color schemes in many german road maps use yellow to indicate a road and add green on the side to indicate an especially scenic route. This map uses yellow-green to indicate a major road. So don’t confuse that.CONCLUSION :With the small index, you will need some online resources or other map to help find destinations. The information about road quality has to be taken with a grain of salt – many maps of Iceland have inaccuracies. This map describes roads a “probably paved”. That means, they don’t know actual status. Why use this map : It provides details, you may not see on a GPS and you can easily browse the road ahead for sights. It complements a small-screen / phone-based GPS. OTOH, 1:500.000 scale maps may be able to that job just as good.GOOD PRICE : even with all the criticism, there are many & expensive maps and you are likely to encounter many of the same issues.

This map is great. We used this for an 8 night trip in Iceland and used it as our sole method of getting around. In Reykjavik, we used a gps, but once out of the city, this map was perfect and we did not need it to get around the smaller towns. We drove up from Reykjavik to Snaefells, across to the Westfjords, and then back down to the southern coast. The entire time we did not get lost and did not notice any discrepancies in map vs. real life. It is awesome that it is water proof and tear proof. I did have it out most of the time in the car, and the way it folded so I could just have a portion showing at a time really helped. A few secluded locations we visited were not on the map, and that's okay by me. We loved being alone at hidden hot pots! Some roads are not F roads, but are still pretty rough. So do your research if it seems like a good short cut!

Good for general planning; some innacuracies
Fine for trip planning, but already (August 2016) slightly out of date - not all the petrol stations indicated there seemed to exist, and there are some inaccuracies/unclear placement of symbols (e.g. waterfalls that turned out to be on one side of the road not the other). Not all the roads are numbered either, which can be very confusing given the way Icelandic roads tend to blend into one another.

Useful map for travelers to Iceland.
I love the fact that this map is waterproof. It is quite elaborated but the name of some volcanoes seem to be missing. A small detail that will encourage me to do some trekking.

Was used quite a bit on our trip around the island.
Was great for our trip. Had pretty much everything on it we needed to drive around the entire island. We used this paired with google maps and the gps in the car as nothing is perfect when it comes to Iceland road maps.
