I'm a bit underwhelmed and a bit unclear as to why Wolf felt this structure was the best route to pursue
I openly admit to being an unabashed fan of Wolf's. He could paint a rock white and sit it on a side table and I would think it was genius. Needless to say, I eagerly anticipated the release of his newest book. Having finally received it...I'm a bit underwhelmed and a bit unclear as to why Wolf felt this structure was the best route to pursue. From a photography, quality and layout perspective, the book is stellar. However, oddly enough, several photographs are blurry, blown out or out of focus. Not many, but the ones that are certainly stick out and are out of character in comparison to the rest of the photography. From a written content standpoint, I am at a bit of a loss. From a text standpoint, Wolf's past books have had a clearly defined, easy to follow text with clear and concise references to accompanying photographs as well as captions for most (if not all) photographs featured. That is not the case in this most recent book. Absolutely no captions for any of the photos and little direct reference to said photos in the accompanying text. This, combined with the overly flowery rhetoric, thoughts and symbolism all contribute to a somewhat disjointed read that comes across as more of a photography book as opposed to a design volume conveying a specific point. Again, captions would help (a lot) as well as focusing on projects in their entirety instead of random photos all over the place. Is this a townhouse? A condo? Is this picture on page 88 the other half of the living room shown on page 45? Are those leather tiles? WHO KNOWS!Its not until the end of the book that you come across an appendix offering select (small) images and brief descriptions regarding mostly paint colors by PPG/Pittsburgh Paints. A bit of an odd setup. While I certainly can respect and identify Wolf's use of the the four elements in many of the featured projects, there were many instances where their connection to his designs and reasoning were...a bit of a stretch to say the least. In a way, the book and its chapters or "Elements" are almost TOO wordy...almost a little tiring to read.. Regardless, it is certainly a must for Wolf fans and design aficionados. However, his past books resonated a bit more with me than this one.

Awful condition
Listed as “Used- Very Good”, but it’s in very poor condition, some water damage as the pages and hard cover do not lay flat.

How the Mighty Have Fallen
I have been a big fan of Vicente's ever since the Patino Wolf days. His first book was brilliant and put forth his ideas in a comprehensive way. This book is ridiculous. Picture after picture, room after room, with nary a word telling you anything about them. The miniscule pictures at the back are useless and are there just to support the endorsement of this book by Pittsburgh Paints. Does anyone still use their paints? Perhaps they thought having Vicente as a spokesperson would raise their level. It hasn't. And it seems to me that in his first book and the subsequent ones, VW was hawking Benjamin Moore? Did Pittsburgh Paints come up with more money?A huge disappointment and totally uninformative. Also, this is yet another book in a long line of mediocre design books published by Rizzoli. It has become the vanity press for all interior designers who want a book of their work published. A sad commentary on Rizzoli, publishing and especially Vicente.

Best design book by far
I love Vicente Wolf’s approach to design. His rooms are comfortable and warm eventhough he uses a lot of whites and soft blues. His accent pieces from his travels are inspiring. I have all of his books. He doesn’t go by rules but by feelings, moods. Can’t see enough of his designs.
