We use this for our dinner meals sit down time. Our kids love it and they've dropped it multiple times and it doesn't break. The sand drops fine. I didn't measure it with the stopwatch. It's also plenty big.

If you are a teacher, all of the Hand 2 Mind Timers are a hit with students. They love to do anything that involves beating the time. The timers are large and can be seen from around the classroom. Colors are bright and you cannot break this timer. I am going on three years and they have been tossed, dropped, and knocked over. The rubber end caps is sturdy and the clear tube keeps the timer from breaking. I bought two of the 1-minute timers. One times one minute on the dot and the other runs for 56 seconds. If you are comparing and wonder if the price is worth it--the durability, size, and bright color make this a timer your students will enjoy for a long time. I have students who need calming activities--and these timers are some of their favorite go to's. They can line them up and watch the sand fall and sparkle. So calming.

I wanted to write a review for this timer because after reading the reviews, the only thing that made me unsure about ordering was that some buyers commented that it was much larger than expected. If you are wanting this timer to replace the missing timer that goes with a board game, then this timer is WAY too big. If you want this for your classroom for your time out spot or for timing cleanup time, then this is the size you're looking for. I ended up buying this because it was basically the only timer where people didn't say the sand got stuck, and so far it has worked well every time with no sticking. It's more expensive than others, but it works, so I'm happy!

This timer is excellent for children with small hands. The ends are rubberized to keep it from slipping and sliding. The color is great and size is excellent.

I use this timer to encourage on my special Ed students who elopes to stay in the classroom. When he stays in the classroom, his timer is going, but when he leaves his area, we set the timer on its side and it is paused. When he comes back, we tip it ti resume it, and he gets reinforcement when it runs out. It’s worked quite well! Better than a digital timer for him because he can see how much time he has left. The silicon protruding edges make it so durable because it’s been thrown and scratched at countless times.

The price of these are a little high but they are very sturdy and good quality. The sand doesn't get stuck like smaller timers. I use this at home for my kids to help them stay on task. The size is nice because you can see it from multiple places in a room. Hopefully the size and durability will help it last a long time. I have the 5 and 10 minute timers and I've used them almost every day. The kids think it's fun to look at.

I got three different minute ones of these. All great and colorful. They add excitement to games. I got the 5 minute one for a younger grandson so his folks could have him time, "5 more minutes" at a game, or cleaning his room, or practicing his spelling, etc. The 10 minute timer was for the grandson to practice piano. Yes, he needs to practice more than that, but 10 minutes at one shot is the right time for him. They were what I wanted. The sand flowed freely, and the timing was pretty close, perhaps a few seconds off.

Gifted it to a young child after a few uses. I will not know about its long-term durability or function.
