You may _also_ need a pair of deck spindle reinforcement rings; also watch your torque on the bolts.
If you know what you are doing and you need new spindles, just go ahead and order these - you'll be fine. My application was a John Deere L118 and the form and fit was perfect. If you need to replace you mower deck spindles, it is very likely you need/want to add a pair of deck spindle reinforcement rings to help flatten and strengthen the deck where the spindles attach. Too bad this kit does not include them. Just go ahead and buy a set and add the reinforcement; why go to all this work and have to do it again in short order? The installation itself is not difficult, but complications can arise. The basic kit contains bolts just long enough to drive into the self-tapping holes in the spindle. It is far too easy to strip these self-tap threads - and then your repair won't hold; the screws will just vibrate loose and you'll notice it right after the suddenly lowered blade(s) clear a bald spot on your lawn. Don't do what I did (I used a powered torque wrench). Just tighten and torque by hand.If you use the reinforcement rings (and again, I suggest you should), you'll find that the bolts supplied with the kit are not long enough to secure the spindle through the rings. The people who sell the rings you buy know this and usually they supply a set of longer bolts. Two problems: one, these replacements are likely to be of a lower grade than the ones originally supplied with the spindle kit and two, if you've already put bolts into the spindle, you've already opened up the "self-threading" holes and your new longer bolts won't tighten properly. Even if they look like they have set completely and tightly. Even with medium locktite. They haven't, trust me.Your solution is to through-bolt the spindle to the deck. That means you need longer bolts and nuts to match. The original bolts in my case were m8-1.25 x20mm (check yours). I bought (here on A-zon) a set of bolts and nuts: M8-1.25 x 35mm Flanged Hex Head Bolts Hexagon Screws, Serrated Flange Hex Lock Nut, Fully Threaded. These ended up being too long and I had to cut them to size - I think 30mm would do it. I used medium orange (HD) locktite and torqued by hand. All appears to be well. The other items included in the kit are fine. Nice blades and decent belt. And the pulleys are a nice addition, otherwise you'd be tempted to reuse old worn pulleys; don't do that. The grease fittings are hard to get to once you've installed the spindles. Oddly, one spindle sucked up the grease and the other almost immediately spilled out (normal "full" indication). Don't don't what to make of that, but it was unexpected.Your mileage may vary and no installation is the same. If money is no object, just take your deck to John Deere, they'd be happy to do the work for you. :-)

Decent parts for repairing mower deck, but horrible quality on the belt
Decent parts to rebuild a 42” John Deere mower deck. Installed easily and everything seemed to fit well. This is the second time I have used this brand for repairing an old mower deck. Both times however the belt left a lot to be desired. First time around the belt was the wrong size although it clearly stated it would fit my model of mower. Second time the belt was the correct size but stretched and wore out on my first time mowing. Replaced it with an OEM John Deere belt and have not had any issues since. Good repair parts, horrible belt. The manufacturer needs to step up their QC on these belts. My suggestion is to buy the parts you need separately and purchase a better belt to start with.

Buy someone else's kit
Where do I start? Started off easy enough to install, I thought. I first started to grease the fittings on the spindles only to have one of them fall out of the housing. Threads were stripped on the fitting. Went to the auto parts store and bought new fittings, only to find out that the threads in the housing were a little loose. Got it screwed in with some thread lock and greased it. Installed the rest of the kit easily enough and mounted the mower deck back to the mower. Cut a few times, only to have the belt shred(just as it was suggested in other reviews might happen). After examining the pulleys that came with the kit it seems that the inner edges on the pulleys have very sharp edges on them, not smooth as they should have been. So, I've installed my old belt until I can get to the John Deere dealer and buy some OEM pulleys. I would not recommend buying this kit. I've learned my lesson.

Good value overall
Everything was good except for the deck belt. It continually falls off and after looking at factory jd belts, it's actually 300 thousandths too long. I like the greasable spindles.

Perfect fit and good value
Exactly what I needed to rebuild my mover deck. It came when stated, maybe even a day sooner. Quality seems good. Cuts great now.

Poor quality parts
Parts are garbage. Nuts that hold the blades in stripped very easily. Held shredded itself in less then 30 minutes of mowing. Belt was also too short which made the blades run constantly.
