Can the output be adjusted to as low as 0.5A?

Do you mean voltage? If you need something to not overload over .5 amps you would need to put a fuse inline with it, or some other type of protection. Not adjust the output of the power supply.

What is the difference between this (edr) and the 'ndr' model?

I belive the width of the casing its self is wider on the ndr and the classification is also different with the edr being a class a and the ndr being class B
