onetreeplanted.org will do it for you
9/17/21~ This is put together like a child's book but adult friendly.Reads at 5th/6th Grade depending on reading level. In my opinion, seems like what makes it a kid's book is the format. The information translates to high school & up age. This is The Evolution of Plants. While I believe in G-d & Creation, it's silly to think nothing has changed in a billion years. So it's quite interesting to follow how plants have acclimated & survived our climate. What I appreciated most was, not just the story of plant survival but,the education of how we can help one of our most life essential resources. It's the full story from beginning to present.Finishes with ideas like Making your own Seed Bank, if you haven't already.Did you know most countries have a seed bank?Plant a Tree. Not your thing? Ok, ontreeplanted.org will do it for you for a dollar? Most easily, get outside. Explore your parks. Know your habitat. As the old adage goes "Use it or Lose it"Without plants & trees we have no breathable air so let's help each other now.

Wonderful and Comprehensive
My son has always had a major obsession with plants as well as fossils. I'm a geologist, and have some fantastic fossils I collected from the Pennsylvanian in Alabama. You can even see the veins on the leaves! Anyway, he loves those fossils, and now with this book, he can see how all his plant buddies came about.I really love this book. It is so different - not your typical fossil book by any means. It is quite comprehensive - not for younger readers or those not really into science/evolution. You get a brief crash course into taxonomy and geologic time. The author takes you through the earth's history, starting with the most primitive and moving forward. It discusses when the major groups appeared and made it onto land. The illustrations are punchy. I would love it if some actual photos of the plants - and any correlating fossils - were included, but that's a minor thing. My kid has been really enjoying this!

A beautifully illustrated book that follows the history of plants around the world
A beautifully illustrated book that will guide you through time by explaining the life of plants. It features all the different plants throughout time! The plants that were here with the dinosaurs and how they even have their own DNA. It even has a section on medicinal plants that can heal and aid in helping you.Plants from all around the world from the Amazon Rainforest to the Sahara Desert. It even discusses the animals that live on them or with them. A very nice section gives details of how humans use plants. And it even discusses how humans abuse and destroy them, too.A great book that is perfect for our homeschool library.

Beautifully illustrated book on plant evolution
This book starts off with a timeline and a family tree of plants. As you turn the pages, you get a beautifully illustrated journey through the evolution of plants starting with algae, when they surfaced, to the spread of plants on land. Four to five examples of plants with information about it's history or interesting facts about them on each page. As you get to the end of the book, it describes how plants are in danger and how extinction of plants is still a major concern with the last pages containing activities such as create a seed bank or pressing flowers.I would consider this a reference book similar to the DK books that give you tidbits of information on each page. There is a table of content and an index to help reference the information. As a reference book it is only okay; there is just enough information in the book to introduce you to plants but not enough meat on the bone to actually get information if say a kid were doing a research project. The writing is a bit dry and could use some editing, but the colorful illustrations make up for it and really became the reason why I kept turning the page. My kids flipped through the book and looked at the pictures but there wasn't really anything in the book that kept their interest.Review For:When Plants Took Over the Planet: The Amazing Story of Plant Evolution (Incredible Evolution)
