Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Solids Yarn, 1.75 oz, Gauge 4 Medium, 100% Cotton, Black Licorice

This yarn ball is MUCH SMALLER than I expected. I realize it says the size in weight in the description but I really had no idea what that meant. This fits I'm the palm of my hand. However, it is very soft and good quality, but I like to get more yarn than this for the price.

Perfect cotton yarn, used for details crochet products. I love how easy it is to work with. It's soft and a great consistent color. And can be used for a wide variety of projects.

Great yarn for dish cloths, potholders. 4 ply. Easier to use than Peaches and Cream. This was pricey. Look for a bundle of this.

Pay close attention to how much yarn you’re getting vs how much you need. This is not a full size skien, it fits completely in the palm of my hand. The picture is greatly enlarged. It’s also very stiff.

Terrible. Coarse, rough. Tiny little skein.

Usually use Peaches ‘n Cream or Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn but I couldn’t get a gray multi, so after reading the reviews and specs, I purchased the Bernat Handicrafter Stripey yarn believing that it would be similar in weight and ply. It is not. It is much thinner and although it looks nice it will not function properly for potholders. Now I’m stuck with 5 more balls of yarn. I’m going to try making another, using double thread to see if that will work.

The item came in great packaging. This yarn is about 80 yards so don't expect to make a big project. This yarn is great for beginners who have just started and want to learn single crotchets. Double and Half Double crotchets are definitely doable, however due to the thin and rough finish of this yarn I would prefer learning those techniques on a different yarn. However since it was so cheap I just ended up taking my project apart and reusing the yarn every time I messed up and the durability was great. I learned to make some squares and have attached a picture of my first ever project of a chair arm cover using single crotchets. The yarn is rough and hard so putting my elbow on this created a lot of marks. However if you just started crocheting then this yarn is nice and cheap to learn the absolute basics on before you invest in more expensive and softer yarn.

For my crochet projects i prefer a yarn that's tough and strong and this is the best yarn i've ever come across that fits my requirements. Needless to say i'm not making baby blankets or sweaters. It would be great for baby toys and place mats or the like for an avid handicrafter.

Love the colours as well that Bernat offer. Use this wool for dishcloths, flowers and baby bibs.
