Digital Carbon 1.5 Cu. Ft. Backwashing System with Fleck 5600SXT Valve (Remove Chlorine, Chloramines, Chemicals, Tastes, and Odors)

Our 20 year old system was in need of service and instead of $350 in components for the softener, we replaced it with a unit from AFW Filters. That's was our introduction to them and this year, instead of repairing and servicing our Carbon Filter, we changed the entire unit to match our softener purchase in 2019. Our water is super clear, no smell, has zero hardness and that's saying a lot from our sulfur smelling Florida well water.

I decided my original rating of 3 stars was too harsh since it was solely based on the color. It is a great product but I wanted black to match the water softener and I got cream. The title specifically says that this is black but it arrived today and it is cream colored. I am definitely not thrilled. But I also don’t have time to send it back and wait for a new one. So I guess it is what it is. If you want a black one, you should probably specifically asked the company to send it in black. The title is wrong.

This filter has been up and running for a week now and I absolutely love it. I had some problems with the shipping initially (the backwash valve was shipped without the bypass), but once I rec'd all of the components to install, and ran an initial backwash, my water is now crystal clear. Overall, I am very pleased and will update this if things change...

Great instructions and included all the components that you need to install the system. I replaced an old Fleck unit with this one in under 30 minuets. Works well and was easy to configure the backwash system.

The filter arrived in 2 separate shipments, the first included the controller while the second included the tank and just under 4/10th of a cu. ft. of granular activated carbon. The media also was t pure with a number of white particles throughout. I understand while the tank doesn’t get filled with media by all the fill charts I’ve seen this is over 2 feet short from where it should be and should have another cu. ft. of media in it. I know have to choose to either return the unit or add media for about $100/cu. ft.For those who don’t know this may seem fine. I’ve installed about a dozen of these and all the previous, mostly from Amazon come empty with a a box of 2 bags of media. The 0.4 cu. ft. is a volumetric measure of the contents in the container and is a rough number; it also doesn’t account for gravel, which if present, definitely makes this scammy.

I debated buying a water system for several months. I consulted some friends that have one and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. This system provides the filtration I wanted and at a much more reasonable price than others.

The plumbers said this was the right unit for my house and they had it installed in a day. works great and the complete water test showed a huge improvement from the install.

Great filter. Haven't had to change my filter cartridge's since I installed this filter.
