Q: Do I have to add soil to the contents?

No, you do not need to add soil. The "medium" included in the package is the soil that you will use to repot your orchid. I used the bark pieces and topped the plant with the moss and my orchid is thriving.

Q: What do I do with all the roots that have grown up and out of the pot? Does that mean the pot is too small?

Do nothing with the roots that have grown out of the pot. Orchids will naturally grow there roots where they want.it doesn't mean the pot is to small.

Q: What size of pot should I get?

It depends on the size of the orchid, I think.

Q: Can I use bark and moss together or I just have to choose one?

I used the bark as the "dirt" and covered the top with the moss. I feel like the moss is more of an aesthetic thing than functional.
