Great Value
I Actually bought this to spread around my house to help repel skunks and it works very well. Kept some for cooking since I do use a lot in my recipes.

Great for Multiple Purposes
Obviously cayenne pepper is used for cooking recipes, but it also works well to keep rodents out of my yard. Raccoons don't like the smell. I mixed cayenne with water in a spray bottle.

6# of cayenne!
Arrived on time with no issues or damage to the jug. The lid has a handle which I though was great. It is 6# of bright red cayenne powder, the bright red color threw mw a bit as I am used to a deeper red color, but it smells great, tastes great and it will work perfectly for my purposes which is actually a deer deterrent, although I did refill my bottle in the kitchen first. I searched everywhere and as of this writing, this was the best deal around for the 6# tub. Would/will buy again!

Excellent Racoon Deterrent!
I can't speak to how good this product tastes personally, but I'm happy to report that the racoons absolutely DETEST it! Living next to the woods we have lots of critters visit us. We have nothing personally against the racoons, but they aren't very good neighbors or guests - especially when it comes to the birdfeeders. The lil bandits have stolen and/or destroyed so many that I'd finally reached my breaking point and decided to fight back. Now for those of you who don't know, capsaicin is what gives chili peppers their heat. And among mammals, humans are the only animals to enjoy that heat. What we humans would describe as "having a lil kick," a racoon would call a "full-on nuclear meltdown in my nose and mouth". Interestingly enough, birds are not at all affected by capsaicin, and that's why this works so well.I added somewhere between 1 - 2 cups of this stuff to my 10 lb bag of bird seed, gave it a good shake, and poured it into the feeders. Then I waited...About 2 hours after it got dark the first victi...er...I mean racoon approached the feeder. The fat bandit bellied up to my feeder, intent on gorging the feast he saw laid out before him. I heard his chittery scream from across the yard and thru the open window. I'll admit it scared the cat, but I laughed till it hurt. I'm sure he had a few choice words for me. It was quiet for maybe 30 minutes after that. Then he decided a second pass would merit him the prize. More emphatic screaming followed. I snickered. This process repeated well into the night. Come morning the birds were excited to see their feeder still full and unmolested. The racoons came back a few other nights hoping for different results, but left sorely disappointed. So like I said, I can't speak personally to the flavor and quality, but if the racoons' screams are anything to go by - this is some good stuff!!

All purpose product!
I didn't purchase this for its flavor. Our beagle kept digging holes in our backyard! After spreading this around some holes and the fence, the digging stopped AND it got rid of our mole problem! Well worth every penny!

Somewhat spicy, but not hot enough for the neighborhood dogs, or Squirrels.
First of all, know that this type of item is NOT returnable to Amazon. This arrived in good shape, fresh with an expiration date about a year out. I tasted it and it did seem spicy warm, but not crazy painful hot.I poked some holes in the foil sealing the opening and sprinkled a generous amount on some recent dog droppings hoping to discourage future activity. It might be working on some dogs, but the larger ones don't seem to be bothered by the pepper powder. I think it would be more effective if it was hotter. This would be a fine product for its intended purpose in food prep, just not for my uses. Good price.UPDATE: MARCH 2022, I tried mixing this with some sunflower seeds I fill my bird feeders with and the squirrels didn't seem to mind the flavor at all. Weak sauce.
