5 Album Set

This is a great collection of music for a ridiculously low price, ya can’t go wrong.

Don't know how many people actually buy CDs anymore, I bought these for my jukebox. But, if you can use 'em, this is a great deal!

Definitely a good buy and I would have given it a 5 star rating if the paper album covers were printed covers you could easily read but they are not. Takes some work to read the song titles. Their music is very unique. I really enjoyed their hits and a few of their lesser known tunes as well. The best CD is "once upon a time" with their best known hits. You cant really go wrong for the selection and the price. Its a good collection of Simple Minds. Get it before its gone.

10 Stars Terrific 5 albums. A must-have...

I hadn't listened to them in a very long time. The earliest albums are the best. I try to avoid a few of the "hits" as they got played to deathMy first favorite song by them is The American. That whole album, Themes for Great Cities era was a new sound at the time.Their albums on the whole were hit or miss. But every album has a couple good tunes.So yeah. Cool memories associated with this band....long before the hits

Value for the price in getting 5 of their early albums is priceless. Enjoying the music in my vehicle, love, love, love!

This was a great way of getting arguably the five best Simple Minds albums all at one time at a bargain price. Unfortunately, you miss out on the artwork and lyrics but these things are easy to find online.

Not much for liner notes - but happy to have it in my collection

Estoy recibiendo este producto en México, es nuevo, llegó en tiempo y se trata de la versión remasterizada en 2002, que para mí es la mejor, sobre todo por New Gold Dream, que es maravilloso y brillante pero además, Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call viene completo: Originalmente Sons/Sister eran dos viniles, pero las versiones anteriores, en CD y descargable, omitían dos pistas; aquí se presentan completos en un solo CD. Las portadas de los 5 discos son réplica de la edición en vinil, así que la caja es de un tamaño compacto, es exactamente lo que se muestra en las fotografías, una edición sencilla a un precio excelente para la cantidad de música que se obtiene, reuniendo lo más exitoso en estudio de Simple Minds.

I bought Once Upon a Time when it came out and, in the end, came to see it as a bit too bombastic for my tastes. (The drumming, in particular, is too thuddy and boomy, all power, no 'feel'.) At the same time, teenage me was curious to hear, on various bonus live tracks heard via 12 inch singles, that earlier SM tracks had been more slinky and romantic sounding. Funds being short I never followed this up.All these years later, I contemplated re-buying Once Upon ... for old times' sake. Then thought, Come on, I can't be so sad as to buy again an album I didn't much like! Then I saw this set of SM's first 5 albums at a bargain price of around a tenner and thought That'll do.I've played the first four albums and am caught up in the romantic but under-stated New Wave style of the first two. Album 2, New Gold Dream is (at the moment) the best. The third one, Sparkle in the Rain adds piano to the line-up and has a few 'epic' warning signals but I wanted to replay it, so romance and mystery evidently continued to prevail. I still find Once Upon ... too full of itself (I can just about take Alive and Kicking, despite all the OUGGH-WOUHRRGGGHGH, but ... Sanctify Yourself? Bring on the bucket.). Fear of more Bono-esque bombast has prevented me from plunging as yet into the fifth album.The sound quality on the discs is fine, not super jazzed up but not 'flat' and lifeless like early CDs. No bonus tracks to distract the mind. The five stars are for the excellent value, the music on the first three albums I'd rate at 4 stars. Album 4: 2 stars. Album 5: TBC.
