RDP Hooded Wall Vent with Screen and Damper (8 Inch, Black)

Heavy duty, looks nice, works great. Best I could find and would buy again.

I have ordered many different external vent flaps, that I have returned because of flimsy material and gravity driven vent flaps, that did not adequately close. We live in Central Oregon, an area prone to wildfire smoke. the need on any vent flap is to protect my home from cold winter temperatures, pests, and smoke. this is the best vent for the job!

Good unit. Damper works & screen is removable for cleaning. No pre-drilled holes for mounting so be aware you will need to have the capability to drill your own. Otherwise, a very sturdy unit

I used this wall cap for an 8" vent fan to provide some exhaust for my basement shop. Wasn't able to find anything else in an 8" size locally. The hood vent arrived quickly and was impressed with how well it was packaged, no damage whatsoever! I'll echo a few others comments about how I was a little disappointed in the screen. There are some pretty decent sized gaps (not to mention sharp edges) on the sides of the vent. For my application, a little bit of bug screen material cut to fit with the included screen and some silicone caulking was all it took to address this. The finish on the hood is great and matches my exterior perfectly.On a related note, the HG Power 8" exhaust fan I also purchased at Amazon conveniently fits inside the attached duct on this hood. A strip of foam weather stripping around the perimeter of the fan was all it took to seal that up, worked perfect for what I was doing!

This is a great quality exhaust cap. The sheet metal is thick and sturdy. I love the details like the thin cloth felt lining on the side to dampen the impact of the cap onto the side. Not gonna lie but this is a pricey purchase but well worth it. If you working on your own home and wants something that lasts you won't regret getting this.

The vent was installed below an eve to replace a basic vent that warped the soffit it was close to. This wasn't the best product for the application, the screen that keeps pests out of the vent, catches the moist lint from the dryer, effectively blocking the exit for the hot air and lint that passes through the lint screen. With it being under an eve in an awkward location, I have to get onto the roof to remove and clean the screen weekly. I think this item would be better off with sprung flaps instead of the screen.

Pricey but very good quality. Sturdily built. I don't see much problem with gaps in the wire mesh that others have reported. The wire mesh is made to be easily removed as opposed to being permanently attached on all sides. Damper works great too.

Product build very solid, great quality, bid pricey, but well worth it. Works great with exhaust fan, flapper moves freely, superior craftsmanship without doubt.
