Excellent Tool - You Get What You Pay For
I just returned a similar hammer that I bought for $10 cheaper, thinking they'd all be the same. I was wrong. The other "tool" was merely a hammer shaped object, made from mild steel and which deformed every time I struck it against my desktop jewelry anvil. It was so soft that it would have marred the fi e wired I needed to flatten & shape. -But after I got this hammer, I knew it was the right tool. It exuded Japanese craftsmanship as both flat & rounded faces were properly tempered to strike true, the rest of the body was coated in enamel to protect the steel and it was carefully fitted into the handle, which was polished soap-smooth. On wire, it swings well and had the right amount of heft to it. A perfect tool!

KAKURI offers good value
As a professional carpenter that loves traditional Japanese tools, I have several of KAKURI's offerings in my tool pouch. All of them, including this hammer, are a good value. However, I have to admit this could be one star better. The handle carving/shaping seems to have been done either in a rush or by someone fairly new at their job. I had to disassemble the hammer and do some touching up work (with one of my KAKURI knives) to get it to where the rattle could be eliminated from the head. The work I put in was no big deal (I like doing that sort of thing), and it is understandable when offering tools at this kind of price point. But there is that room for improvement, nonetheless. I would still buy this hammer again, recommend it to others, and include it in my collection, for sure!
