Key does not feel cheap or sub-quality
[First review written 6/10/2020) I purchased this key hoping to forgo the dealership and it's extraordinary costs for adding a spare key for my 2007 Scion tC. I received the key in two or three days (during this pandemic crisis that was really awesome), and it came in a small box inside of a sealed plastic baggy. It feels like it's a good quality key. I thought I was going to have to install a battery but it turns out it's already installed. Bonus! So, I found instructions online how to program the key. The first suggestion is to program the key so that it recognizes it BEFORE you have the key cut. That way, if even after multiple attempts the key is not recognized you can return or replace the key. But it worked for me, so I moved on to the next step. With this vehicle and the new key, two steps are required to program it. The first, is to make sure the fob is recognized and turns off the engine immobilizer. Then the key needs to be turned into the on position in order to program the lock/unlock/panic buttons of the fob. Since it worked, I moved on to the next step, getting it cut. It turns out that my local ACE Hardware store will not cut any key blank that they do not sell. I ended up going to the local locksmith and he cut it for me. He argued with me for a moment about whether or not it would work, but he cut the key anyway. It cost me $15.00 to have it cut. At the time of this posting I priced a new key from the dealership at $249.xx for the one with the electronics, and $39.xx for plastic case only. As I see it, this key purchase saved me so much money I have no problem with being charged so much just to have the key cut, and to have it done by a professional lock-smith. If this key fails to perform, I will come back and edit this review.07/17/2020 EDITED:Still working wonderfully! Still really happy with it.

They work!
I have a 2007 scion that only came with one fob. The fob broke on me and I called the dealership and they wanted to charge me $375 for one replacement. After calling around and reading the reviews from the previous Amazon orders I decided to take a chance and order these key fobs. Before taking it to be keyed, I programmed it based on YouTube videos. After I programmed it, I took it to my local hardware store which in my location is an Ace Hardware. They charged me $2 per key to have keyed. They could not guarantee that those keys would work, but as soon as I went out to the car, I was ecstatic , both of the key fobs worked and I’m able to lock and unlock from the key fob with no issues. I am so happy for the previous reviews and thank each and everyone of you! I saved myself over $350.00.

Fantastic and cheap!
These keys seem great. They were a pain to get programmed but that was probably 80% operator error. The other 20% was the unnecessarily long and complex key sequence thanks to Toyota....Pro tip: when opening the door just open enough that the car sees it as open, but it is still latched (not closed completely). This allows you to just pull the door enough that the door ajar light goes out and then let it go to let the light turn back on. the car sees this as opening and closing the door and it's much easier to do it fast enough.Once I got it all down it was very easy to program the keys to the car. I then took them to my local Toyota dealer and they were cut for free. They work. They turn tumblers, they lock and unlock doors, and they start the car.

It’s a Fine Product, but just know what you’re getting into….
So any problems I have isn’t with the product itself, but the complications of using it. So I just want people to know what it takes to use this key. There’s two parts to it. Transponder coding, and remote programming. The remote programming was very straight forward and worked perfectly. However when we took it to get the key cut, there were many caveats that were given, mostly to do with the transponder key ability to be cut without being “liable” or the machine not able to recognize it.We went to Home Depot, Lowe’s, and a lock key smith, the latter of which was able to do it for us but for a steep price. Ace’s hardware however was able to redeem my original key, hence why this key has been returned. The transponder coding is a process they do, but for 60 dollars. So it’s a fine product probably, it’s just important to know what you need going in. It’s not as easy as “get it cut” and done, but it’s perfectly doable if you need it. ^^ 4 stars just cause I wish I knew a bit more of this going into it

Halfway right
Took both keys to a locksmith to program. He was only able to program one key. The other key wouldn't program, so after 5 tries I had him give up. Plus the keys were a tad bit too long so when I put it in the ignition I have to barely pull the key out to turn on the car. The key will not open the door in the key lock, it won't turn either left or right. The key that was programmed the fob buttons do work to lock and unlock the doors that is the reason for my rating. Kind of disappointed.

Quality key
The key feels similar to the original. It is very easy to program as it comes with instructions. It's worth the price as an alternative to purchasing from a dealer.
