The leather parts of the original shift knob began to fray and come apart at the seams on our 2006 Mustang, after 12 years of faithful service. I went looking online and found this replacement knob at a much cheaper price than the OEM part. It's cheap enough that I had no qualms about trying it out - I could always opt for the OEM knob if this proved unacceptable.Well, this knob installed easily and has the little lip on the bottom for the leather shift sheath to snap onto. It looks just like the original, although I can tell that the black bits on the sides are plastic and not leather as the original was (and the more expensive OEM replacement would be). It feels fine, so I have no real issue with that part.In fact, the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that as I twist it onto the gear shift, it has so far been just a bit of a challenge to orient it correctly and have it be tight enough not to move at all. I've had to twist it around another 360 degrees a couple of times after installing it. I thought it was tight, but after a couple weeks of driving it was loose enough to twist while shifting, so I ran it around one more time, at which point it seemed tight and in the correct H orientation... only to find that it started to twist again under my hand after another week. So, I've run it around one more time, and believe me, it's tight. It took two hands this time to twist it all the way around so the H pattern points forward.If it loosens up again, I will probably have to remove it and run a "keeper" nut down the threads before reinstalling it, so I can take a wrench and jam the keeper nut up to the new shift knob in the correct orientation. But if you have ever done this, you'll understand that it is kind of non-trivial to do, since the leather gear stick sheath it always trying to totally hide the gear shift from view. But I expect that with enough "persuasion", I can make that all work. I hope not to have to do this, since the original did not have any kind of "keeper nut", and it was fine for many years, no twisting or loosening.It does the job, it looks good, minor challenge with the install (may have been me), 4 stars.

It mounted very well. the clear plastic top popped off and after using Gorilla expanding glue on the top did get tiny cracks in it, but that was probably my fault. If the top comes off, use regular epoxy.

Installed for 1 MONTH now. I installed this shifter on my "2008 SCION tC." That's right 2008 5speed tC. The shift knob is better than the auto parts store Universal crap. This shifter doesn't have a crappy set screw to hold it in place but screws right down and stays tight. Havven't had any problems of coming loose. The black on silver matches the rest of the tC trim and other tC owners are asking where I got it because they are liking it better than their stock or "auto parts store Universal crap." No complaints, the only small thing anyone could fuss about was left over flash from molding, No one would notice, I only felt it as i shifted. So, I took a razor and slowly removed the excess flash.

Price was right and shipped in timely manner.

Very good OEM quality. Fit right on my wife's 2007 Ford Focus.

In Texas our cars can get fairly hot inside which caused the glue to somewhat leach out holding the gear indicator piece on. Had to clean it a couple of times but know seems OK. Hope I didn't lose the adhesive capability holding it on. Otherwise awesome shift knob.

Crappy mold lines and no threads or even inserts literally no way to fasten it to the shifter. Don’t waste your $$$

Great quality feeling and looking product. But do not buy if you have a short throw shifter.
