I use these when it's impractical to calculate the correct value for a circuit, or where I want to be able to adjust the value. While I wouldn't say these are equal in quality to Bourns or other name brands, they are great for the price, and when used with that in mind, very helpful. I would not advise using these in a production environment without further research and a real spec document.

This is a great little kit. I looked at a fair number of trimmer potentiometer kits available on Amazon and this one seems to be the best bang for your buck. The pots themselves are rated for 0.1 watts, while a lot of the other kits available aren't rated that high. A practical application of this is being able to drive five 20mW LEDs in in series with one of these at full brightness, versus just a couple on a 0.05W pot. I took some of the potentiometers out at random and measured their resistance and they were all within their 10% spec which is nice too. It also came in a very nice box that presented them all very nicely.
